That guy floats between reasonable posts and borderline trolling, but I don't see too much wrong with this one.
He's probably one of the few oppo posters who I reckon has come pretty close to the mark on the player contracts. The main one I'd disagree with is Cerra, who is supposedly closer to the $600k mark (and according to some, possibly under that).

The belief by some that we won't, or can't, lose some of our decent players along the way is just wishful thinking. The reality is that it's more likely to happen, than not happen. Not sure I agree that Harry will be the one we lose though, and I certainly don't think we are planning to let him go.

There's no way that we didn't plan Cripps, Walsh, Weiters, Charlie, etc, while factoring in Harry's next deal. The question will simply come down to whether Harry wants to chase a max deal, or fit in with the others and take unders to keep the core of the team together.
It's not an unreasonable post in my view.

That all sounds reasonable, until you consider that it still leaves 6-ish million between the other 33 players, a fair number of those being draftees, role players and rookies on $100-250k. Suspect most teams would have a similar profile - half the cap spent on the top dozen players, the rest of the list below the AFL average.

Reckon we're more likely to let guys like Fisher, Gov, Williams, Martin etc. go than we are to flip Harry.

This is what I don't get.
If the AFL wanted it gone, it would've been a fine or a nothing to see here. The AFL suspended him, then fought hard to keep that suspension.
Cripps was in a room full of his peers last night and they all seemed genuinely happy for him. Would be nice if Neale or Ah Chee came out and said they didn't think he should be suspended and is a worthy winner.

Don't forget the Cerra trade.....I reckon the trade followed up with us taking their NGA player in Motlop the same year tipped them over the edge.

On a more positive note, I recall Peter Bell saying that Carlton were "fantastic" to deal with following the Cerra trade - you'd kind of expect that consequently the Acres trade will be pretty seamless given we seem to have built good relations with them. It's the way to do business these days as opposed to the nutter down the Tulla freeway with his hardline old school approach to winning every trade....and we know where that's got them. Kudos to Austin.

I think Freo's fans disliking us is reasonable from their end. They don't have much history and their only rivalry is WC and it's barely a rivalry any more than it's been complete domination for most of their history. They have the smaller club in a two club town chip on the shoulder, and the Perth anti-Vic mindset is a thing. Then, you throw in both side's recent history; they've had a much better last twenty years than we have, both clubs rebuilding but we capture the media far more than we do, and we had a habit of beating them in clutch ways when, arguably, they should be winning those games.

They look at us and see a tall poppy, a team that receives attention they feel their own is due, a team that has a history they lack but feel shouldn't matter. They see another young side in the limelight where theirs is frequently shunted to one side.

Their dislike of us is completely understandable.
