I agree to a certain extent.
The club should mete out the punishment and submit a report to the AFL.
When the AFL become self appointed moral guardians, they are overreaching their remit.
That said, some of the reported "skits" warrant significant penalties.
Rape, 9/11, racism are no go zones, and the players involved deserve sanctions, and need to be more attuned to what can cause justified offence.

If it was us, I'd prefer it to just go to the AFL Integrity Unit for them to deal with, like this has. I think it's better for all concerned. Also means the AFL wears the heat that comes with being judge and jury for this sort of thing. .

Dunno, sounds extreme to me.

I'm not accusing them of anything except really poor choice for comedy/parody when apparently some of the parodies were of alleged or historical hurt

The Jarred Hayne trials were because Hayne was accused of getting a taxi to a house. Getting the taxi to wait, whilst he went inside and r*ped someone. Then went back outside and got the taxi home.

They're in the shit because two blokes dressed up as a taxi driver and Hayne with a sex doll and acted it out - including the rape - as a comic skit - in a booked room - in a public venue.

… I’m not convinced that the AFL has handled this well either. Sure, they’ve sent out a strong message (good) but …

… not convinced that publicly tar and feathering a 20 year old (Fahey) and then reminding everyone about it again March next year when he serves out his sentence was the right way to go about it.

Surely there could have been a better way to deal with the matter that would have rehabilitated whilst also sending out a strong message?

So Essendon front end Mckay’s contract paying $3mill for his first two years and much less after that and today come out and say that they will re build through the draft for the next three years.

Is it worth keeping an eye on this one?

I was angry we delisted a tall after 2 years. WTF, talls take a lot longer to develop, absolute panic move by us. Should still be there, has real potiental kicking bags in the VFL in a side not much better than our shite one.

You start with delisting McMahon as being a big mistake because he kicked a few goals in the VFL and may get on someone's rookie list but then finished by taking potshots at the McKay brothers. The blue sky of the untried 4th year VFL player just isn't a better option than big salaried AFL players.
