It’s up to four years is my understanding
this was from the ESPN article

Smith faces a maximum four-year ban under the AFL's anti-doping code.

I wonder if we'll hear from Shaun on this matter?

Absolutely; public service announcement…

“You know, I used to be known for getting high on the field, but…”

If he can establish he took it earlier than 11:59pm on the day before competition, he gets 3 months, reduced to 1 with a treatment program.

LOL if there’s a photo of him snorting lines at 23:59:15 the day before then…

Or maybe he can produce the receipt from his dealer which had a best before date?

But he might not have snorted it straight away, so when he bought it isn’t relevant. I imagine all these duck smokers have cocaine fridges or cocaine decanters or humidors… it’s got to age properly, right? It’s got to breathe! Snorting it straight away seems gauche, something they do in public schools darling…

All I can say is thank god it was a player from another club who was busted.Could you imagine the carry on if it was one of ours?We would never have heard the end of it.

No. Once again, you are wrong. And have compounded your error with a stupid smartarse emoji. Clown.

The only time cocaine is tested for is for an in competition test. If the Sam Murray situation arose now, he would likely have copped a 3 or 1 month suspension.

Pursuant to Article 4.2.3 of the Code, some substances on the 2021 List of Prohibited Substances and Prohibited Methods (2021 Prohibited List) have been identified as Substances of Abuse “because they are frequently abused in society outside the context of sport”.

Under Article 10.2.4.1 of the Code, regarding these substances, “if the Athlete can establish that any ingestion or Use occurred Out-of-Competition and was unrelated to sport performance, then the period of Ineligibility shall be three months Ineligibility. In addition, the period of Ineligibility calculated under this Article 10.2.4.1 may be reduced to one month if the Athlete or other Person satisfactorily completes a Substance of Abuse treatment program approved by the Anti-Doping Organization with Results Management responsibility.”
Hey Sidey, not disputing you coz have no idea about any of these rules.

But clarifying.

Rules and penalties here is different from AFL 3 strikes rules coz of how and when and by whom the tests were done/conducted?

Aka game day, testing for Cocaine etc and they only test for such substances on game day?

Then the penalty eventually applied is max 3 months or 1 depending on player’s defence?

Not the 1,2 or 3 strikes policy applies here.

For it to be considered performance enhancing, does he have to have used it game day or the fact that it's in his system game day mean he still gets a couple of years
