I remember the good old days when everyone here wanted Tom Scully.

He's beaten the other crowd favourites of 2022 in Lemmey and Keeler in the delistment stakes.
Port fans think he is quite stiff, given talls take time and playing in a poor team.

He's a tall with no ground game. Unless he takes half a dozen contested marks a game he's not going to be of much value. You have to be uber tall like Cox to get away with it (and at least he can ruck).

I was angry we delisted a tall after 2 years. WTF, talls take a lot longer to develop, absolute panic move by us. Should still be there, has real potiental kicking bags in the VFL in a side not much better than our shite one.

I have never rated him. His one vs one win % is crap, let alone for a near million dollar player. North had a massive win getting the high compo pick. His brother is a ton better and he is too coward to kick a drop punt from 15 out straight in front.
If you feel that strongly about it, Scully has been delisted by Port Adelaide.

No reason to get angry.

You and I only get to see a player’s output for 2 hours a week.

The club get to see them for 30 - 40 hours per week, week after week. Including interactions that you and I have no insight into, such as attitude, ability and willingness to learn the game plan and play their role, willingness to get fit and get over injuries, willingness to be a good team-mate, and get the best out of themselves.

On a podcast recently Ed mentioned that a significant number of players are a problem because when they come into the AFL system they just want to live the high life but don’t want to put the work in. He had a term for them “bread roll eaters”.

Maybe you’re getting yourself “angry” over players who’ve done a handful of highlights at training / VFL / maybe even AFL? …

… but the club have seen in a few years of close contact that the player doesn’t do the work, and/or has a poor attitude, and/or are bad for team culture, and/or aren’t willing to do any of the things successful players do. And the club are just keen to kick them out of the joint.

Not sure if this has been discussed before but Eddie's son Joe is doing well over in the US as a college punter. It's funny to hear how much he sounds like his dad!

But is there another Collingwood connection? He features in this video with Nick McLarty. Anyone know if he's related to Sam? It's a fairly uncommon surname. He's also a massive unit, especially for a punter... 204cm, 115kg!

Adelaide footy media is nuts. Because there's only two teams, those teams get a heap of focus and their draftees get a heap of exposure. Lots of puff pieces on Tom last year. So supporters think they've drafted a ripper and him not touching it at SANFL gets ignored. I think it would have been a pretty easy decision for Port to delist him.

Back around maybe 89 or 90, Eddie played a few games for the Crocs(the social team) at Old Xavs. Fat and slow, but he was a booming kick.

Punting for Ohio State is a pretty big deal. They’re the no. 2 ranked college in the country for NCAAF right now and a championship contender. They also have probably the best wide receiver in college football playing for them.

Has anyone ever played Punter / Tight End before?

TEs are generally expected to be able to block; the “tight” in the name indicates they line up close to the end of the offensive line, so they have to be able to protect the QB against 280lb, incredibly fast/athletic pass rushers. That’s not something aussie rules players are native to.

Of course, the exceptional pass catchers like Travis Kelce are rarely asked to block because they are more valuable running routes downfield, but there aren’t too many of those. The very best TEs do everything, like Rob Gronkowski of the Brady-era Pats or George Kittle of the 49ers.
