Vitamin supplements at least I hope? Scurvy, cancer etc...

Also fibre so important
I supplement with electrolytes.
I've never been more regular than on carnivore. My IBS has disappeared.
 
I went to a friend's house for lunch on Boxing Day. I was telling her about the carnivore diet. She said, "That doesn't seem very healthy". This woman would have a BMI over 35. She had a spread of cakes and other things on the table. The lack of awareness of some people just baffles me.
I’m sure this convo has been done before but bmi is such a poor tool for any form of description of health.

My bmi spits out at 31. I’d have about 9% body fat, train 5/6 times a week and am by any standard in good shape.

My household and its food and diet is also overall very healthy but as mentioned come over right now and it’s leftovers, take away and cakes and chocolate as far as the eye can see.

I also think “I exclusively eat meat” DOESNT sound healthy at all, if you deep dive and explain it a bit that can be disproven but personally I’d go veggo long before I’d go carnivore (noting that carnivore has obviously worked for you).

Saying she probably has a BMI of 35 just sounded a lot nicer than saying she is a fat ass.

I'm not going to go into the science of it on here but Dr Berg, who has lots of videos on YouTube, is worth a look if anyone is interested.

I'm probably not going to be strict carnivore forever. It gets a bit repetitive after a while. At some stage I'll probably add in some avocado, berries and nuts, but as a body reset it's amazing.
 
A  bit repetitive? I like meat as much as the next person but eating nothing but that would be.. geez... Not to mention expensive :eekv1:
I've actually found it cheaper than a standard diet. I get one of these carnivore boxes every fortnight.


I also spend about $100 a fortnight at my local butchers. $300 a fortnight is pretty decent I reckon.

Respectfully if you google “carnivore diet bad” you would get just as many, if not more results as the same search with good.

It’s absolutely not going to work for everyone and it’s absolutely not recommended for many people.

I’m glad it worked for you (and I suspect like most diets anything that makes you think more consciously about your food is always gonna help) but I wouldn’t recommend it for others without knowing their circumstances.
 
I just don't get why it has to be so fantastically restrictive, couldn't the same results be achieved more safely with a more balanced approach including vegetables.

As a diabetic most fruit and veggies raise my blood sugar so I need insulin. Fruit is about the most overrated thing going around. Berries are the only fruit which have a negligible affect on my blood sugar. Most fruit sends it skyrocketing. Same with green veggies. I'll probably add green beans back at some stage but that's it. But even then it will be just for variety. There is not much in beans that you can't get from meat.

I'll also add avocado and nuts back in for the healthy fats and berries for the vitamin C. That's it.

I would think the lack of fibre and heavy digestion for a full carnivore diet would be a rough transition for most.

Honestly whatever works for any person is what they should do. This works for rask and fair play to him.

Any form of “mindful” eating (wanky as that sounds) is a good thing

I wouldn't recommend anyone jumping in to this diet without research. It's taken me ages (keto/low carbs for years) to get to this point. I would recommend anyone give keto a go first and see how you respond.

The lack of fibre really hasn't been an issue for me. Healthy fats can be a lot better than fibre in keeping you regular. As I said, my IBS has disappeared on carnivore.

I'll probably settle on what is called "ketovore" long term, which is a meat-based diet but with the things I've already said I will add later, plus a few other things like Greek yoghurt, Lindt 90% chocolate and coconut (MCT oil is amazing).

But however sceptical someone may be surely it is better than the standard Aussie diet of fish and chips, pizza, pies, iced coffee, cakes, which was my original point.
 
I've been considering trying keto or carnivore.

Might give it a go in March, perhaps, as Jan/Feb I've got a bit going on where eating choices will be somewhat complicated (work trips etc)

It's gotta be better than the absolutely trainwreck of a diet I currently have which consumes of a lot of bad food and a lot of alcohol.

I'm not asking for specifics but I'd be curious to see how the guys in particular perform in a semen analysis on these various diets. Our fertility tends to be more obvious than the boys expression of their health, short of a catastrophic equipment failure but I would think that given your bodies are made to support the genetic spread device - it should be a reasonable metric by which to measure the health of the diets/fuel you're using to support it.
 
As a measure of health in men, I think it entirely goes through to the keeper and as far as diet goes, if there were more information available about one diet also improving fertility for guys, wouldn't that weigh into your decisions - if you excuse the pun?
I don’t see what relevance any of what you’re discussing has to the thread and it’s just a weird invasive thought and comment but to each their own.
