Another golden day for Australia, with Mollie O’Callaghan winning the 200m freestyle ahead of defending Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus. Chris Burton also took silver in the equestrian individual eventing.

A successful day for our hockey teams, with the Kookaburras winning 2-1 over Ireland, and the Hockeyroos beating Great Britain 4-0. Our women’s rugby 7’s played Ireland twice and won the QF 40-7, in doing so setting up a SF clash with Canada. The Opals were dreadful in a 13 point loss to Nigeria.

Kaylee McKeown and Iona Anderson also both qualified easily for the 100m backstroke final. Novak Djokovic beat Rafael Nadal in their 60th and perhaps final clash.

Day 4 highlights:

A lot happening tonight, starting early with Matthew Hauser and Luke WIllian in the men’s triathlon. The men’s water polo team face powerhouse Serbia. The Boomers face a huge test against Canada, Jess Fox is up again, this time in the C1. Logan Martin is in the cycling BMX freestyle, Australian women are in the rugby 7’s SF against Canada, women’s 3x3 basketball, Kookaburras take on Belgium in a 2020 Olympic gold rematch.

Big night in the pool, especially big programs in the heats. Men’s 200m butterfly (Temple), men’s 100m freestyle (Chalmers, Yang), women’s 1500m freestyle (Pallister, Johnson), women’s 100m (O’Callaghan, Jack), men’s 200m breaststroke (ZSC, Yong), men’s 4x200m freestyle. Then later Winnington aims for a medal in the 800m freestyle, and McKeown tries to defend her 100m backstroke title.
