The fact that most bars overprice their drinks by $2-3 in a job market and economic downturn says a lot.
Saw one bar charge $8.50 for a schooner (not a pint) of Carlton Draught. WTF?
we had a beer at a joint called "The Classroom" in Charles St North Perth that charged us $8.00 for a schooner of Coopers. A fecking local beer. So expensive...

Mate it's not just the beers over there. Your pub meal prices are ****ing ridiculous. I was at some joint that charged $26 for a parma and chips which is bad enough... But they wanted an extra $6 for a side of salad.

I might just be spoilt from the Parma and pot's you can get over here for $15.

I ended up eating every day in Northbridge at the viet restaurants.

Haven't seen a good Perth vs Melbourne "My penis is bigger than yours" contest for a few years.
With all due respect, Perth isnt fit to be in a debate vs Melbourne.

Bunch of deros with utes and Japanese script tattoos with a pissweak city surrounded by mediocre suburbia.

Have spent a lot of time in Perth for work and its probably the biggest thing I noticed to.

I like the place, but we were generally there during the week, and the place was just so indescribably dead at night. It was like a ghost town. We were working, didn't want to have a bender or anything, just a few drinks, and it was a ghost town.

No doubt it's better on the weekend but people are allowed to relax during the week too.

So OP has a solid point IMO.

Serious question, how many of you have stayed in the city centre of Sydney or Brisbane, and to a lesser extent Melbourne, on a regular week night. All have a place or two that might have a few people but unless you know where to go, it's likely to be a few drinks at the Grand Hotel on Hunter Street.

Jeez, haven't seen a Carlton above $5 for a schooner in my area. How much is a Corona?
Looking at $9 plus. I told a friend that when going out I don't want to go out to expensive bars and she replies 'don't worry, they only charge $10 for a Corona where we go'. LOL.

And during my time in Sydney Carlton Draughts along with the other low end lagers (e.g. VB, Tooheys) were $4-$5.50 a schooner.

Hows that car manufacturing industry going for ya over there?

Perth subrubia >>>> Melbourne's s*it holes

Even our worst like Armadale, Rocko and Ballajura are a lot prettier than the likes of Geelong, Noble Park and Altona

Draconian Liquor Licensing which will not work with the industry to provide alternatives for people to have a nice quiet beer, rather to out-price, fine and not listen to reason when trying to create a good establishment

Honestly, You need to go to outside the City to have a few relaxing beers, anything Central tries to create an atmosphere that caters to anyone over 25 who doesn't like drinking JD and coke or cruisers don't bother
