Perth... Serious question...

Draconian Liquor Licensing which will not work with the industry to provide alternatives for people to have a nice quiet beer, rather to out-price, fine and not listen to reason when trying to create a good establishment

Honestly, You need to go to outside the City to have a few relaxing beers, anything Central tries to create an atmosphere that caters to anyone over 25 who doesn't like drinking JD and coke or cruisers don't bother

This pretty much somes up the wankfest vibe in Perth's inner city bars.

Drink all afternoon then go to sleep to work the next day.

Why would anyone bother going into the CBD past 10 on a Sunday?
not everyone works the standard boring 9 - 5 and drives their commodore and lives in a comfortable house behind a white picket fence. Me and Manilla Player need options for our irregular hours and lifestyles...

Mate it's not just the beers over there. Your pub meal prices are ******* ridiculous. I was at some joint that charged $26 for a parma and chips which is bad enough... But they wanted an extra $6 for a side of salad.

I might just be spoilt from the Parma and pot's you can get over here for $15.

I ended up eating every day in Northbridge at the viet restaurants.

It's partly because Perth pubs aren't subsidised by pokies

It's parmy.

The 'suburban' mentality ("Why would we go out any night other than Friday and Saturday? ") begins very close to the CBD, probably because of the very dispersed population and their generally populist right wing feelings.

The good pubs in Melbourne overwhelmingly don't have pokies. The pubs with pokies exist for the gamblers and bored retirees.

I walked through a pokies lounge the other day and it stank of desperation and sadness. I really f***** hate those things.
I've enthusiastically embraced almost all of life's vices, but I'm glad the gambling bug never bit.
...and the gambling addiction is the least of most these patrons' worries. Barely sentient, even if they were before their addiction took hold.

Your first mistake was in going to Perth. Lovely place. Beautiful scenery. A climate some adore. Peopled by those who don't give a toss about service or hospitality, because the scenery, climate etc. is all anyone should need. Mind you, Perth has the most handsome women I've seen in my life. Dumb as dog shit though, not that this matters.

I cannot believe you guys haven't tried the true perth experience on a sunday night, 3 King browns of VB, Couple of cones in the belmont forum carpark then rob some house in Redcliffe. Or break into my F**king car

Serious question, how many of you have stayed in the city centre of Sydney or Brisbane, and to a lesser extent Melbourne, on a regular week night. All have a place or two that might have a few people but unless you know where to go, it's likely to be a few drinks at the Grand Hotel on Hunter Street.

Melbourne on a Monday and Tuesday night I could've used (and could still use) some advice on to be honest. Struggled to find anything.

Beautiful warm sunny day smack dab in the middle of Winter:thumbsu:

I moved to Perth 10 years ago from Melb. I havn't gone near the city in many years.

Years ago we stayed in a city hotel on a Sunday and found empty streets and closed dining houses come dinner time.

The only place open was an old Italian joint that charged 3 bucks for the bottle of water they gave you.

Northbridge makes Surfers look like harmless fun, the taxi service is riddled with migrant sex attackers and large numbers of drunken 'people' roam the city streets harassing the public.

Oh and the train system is controlled by gangs of meth smoking, knife wielding teenage imbeciles.

In Perth, people stay in their own district and drink at local establishments. No one I know goes into the city for a night out..except to Crown.

Forty years ago, having driven across the continent in a clapped out Volksy, I arrived in Perth at 6 o'clock one Sunday morning. Unsurprisingly, the only people around were the street cleaners. I pulled up beside one of these blokes and asked him where I might find the CBD. He said, "You're in it."

Top story. "City in the 1970s was quiet at 6.00am on a Sunday"

You should get it on Ripley's Believe It Or Not show

Missed the "unsurprisingly" bit, did we?
I'm not sure what you were expecting to find? Unless you're expecting us to believe that you really didn't recognise that you were in the CBD? Even today it's not huge in comparison with Sydney or Melbourne but there is no way that you're going to look at it and think there must be a bigger one somewhere nearby.

It is gratifying to finally find someone who is a more reliable witness than I to the happenings in my life. Were you one of the street cleaners?

All you WA people. Ive just gotten back to melbourne from the US and spent last week in Perth catching up with family/friends. I grew up in Perth but left many years ago. So Sunday night, my best mate and I headed out for a froffy. We arrived in Northbridge around 10. Literally the ONLY places open were a shit and empty Irish pub opposite the closed Mustang bar, and a joint full of 18 year olds called the Shed. We drove all over the city and Northbridge and Leederville, and NOTHING was open, and the Shed was the only thing happening. It was honestly like being in a country town. 10pm on a Sunday night and not a thing was happening. Even strip clubs were closed. We asked a bouncer at the Shed, as we were staggered. ive been out in Perth in previous times on a Sunady and had good nights. His response was the economy has slowed massively but the cost of living is still through the roof. The only people who can afford $10 beers are FIFO who get breath tested.

What a silly of a place to live, when you cant even get a beer on a Sunday night. Is this seriously what Perth has become?

Mate reason why nothing is open is because everyone's in bed getting ready for another day of propping up the rest of the nation
