that was a really intense game yesterday, the kind where you can’t go directly into the next one (tuned in later for the Saints second half)

Daic in the second, Joe in the third, some big efforts from them

When the Lions hit 60 in the third they had a couple bad misses in a row from Bailey, Rayner, Joe, etc. which came back to bite them.

When the Pies got that throw free with 30 secs left I had to turn it off, too tragic for me, especially given the similar Giants loss, the GF rematch at the G, and the critical nature for top 4. Poor Fages

Can we just appreciate once more how Brisbane managed to stuff up last year’s flag?

Imagine scoring a grand final match-up against a side you’ve beaten 6 times on the trot (never happened before). Your opponent loses their in-form key forward to a knee injury in the preliminary final, forcing their coach to select Billy Frampton to take his place (who isn’t a forward’s bumhole). The game starts and your opponent then loses a key defender before quarter time for the game, giving the Daniher-Hipwood combination complete aerial dominance inside forward 50 for three quarters.

You receive a golden run of free kicks benefitting your side. A few examples: Bailey’s 2nd goal was a missed 50 to Cox, 50 against Markov was incorrect resulting in a goal, Cox’s inside 50 mark not receiving a 50 after a Lion booted the ball away. The play resulting in your last goal of the game begins as a result of a putrid high free kick to Coleman. Your opponent kicks 1.9 in almost a full half of footy failing to put the game away time and time again.

And the Lions still fell short! It quietly is one of the biggest grand final ****-ups of all time.

So true, as should have thumped them In the GF but still Brisbane found a way to lose it and we would of won by a fair few goals yesterday if it wasn't for the umpires paying soft HTBS and high free kicks against us while missing blatant ones the other way for 3 quarters. Even in the last the quarter the amount of time wasting they allowed Brisbane to do holding the ball for eternity without being called to play on. A tactic the AFL have focused on and stopped us from doing all year calling play on quickly. Bloody hilarious
