Giants most likely, they’re in with a shot as soon as this season.

Suns were impressive yesterday, but it was only one outing and it was only Richmond. They still have a long way to go, they’re not even certainties to play finals this year.
"only Richmond" damn the dagger through the hearts

GWS seems to be better run club at the top that's all i'll say.

It is what it is. Tigers a strong chance to finish bottom 4 this season. You've had a great run.

They are, and have been for years. GC has been a basket case since inception, though they now have a fantastic coach so let's see what they can do.

Welcome to the Port board Circa 2019.

2-6 in 5 finals series in the last decade. And apparently the fans are the problem.

I feel that up to and including 2020, you could legitimately argue they were unlucky. Some close games, going in as underdogs and just falling short, kicks after the siren, etc... The 'Sack Donuts' thing I always thought was a little unfair until that point.

But their last 4 finals have been comprehensive defeats, with 3 of them at home, where they've looked mentally and physically shot each time. Something is clearly badly wrong somewhere.

2020 they "probably" should of made a Grand Final but they played a team (Richmond) who was battle hardened.

The real season starts in September, Finals Footy.

Home & Away plays an important part in shaping the top 8 but when Finals come around, it's a different ball game: more pressure, higher stakes, bigger expectation from fans/supporters and the media. Finals footy is when it truly matters, not Home & Away footy.

Some players excel in Finals whilst others crumble like a cheesecake Biscuit base.

People looking at Hinkley after last night's performance are looking in the wrong direction. When things got tough, the players didn't want to know about it. As the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water but...

Yes in the 12 years, multiple iterations of forwards, midfielders and defenders and all the players that have come through the club, they just all happen to be the types that go missing.

Seems unlikely. What is likely is the 1 single common denominator. He can’t motivate or prepare the team for finals or big moments.

A coach is responsible for the mental preparation of his team, players are a reflection of their coach.

Obviously the players shouldnt be absolved of their proportion of blame, however last night it was clear from the opening minutes the Cats had a clear plan how they were going to defend the corridor, apply the required pressure and expose a fragile team. On the other hand Port came out like they did every final, scared, nervous and zero idea how to handle the pressure or execute fluid ball movement when they couldn't use the corridor. The amount of panic hack kicks (the type normally reserved for B grade local footy) was staggering. If that was a once off, then fair enough but we've seen this movie in every final's appearance since 2017.

To his credit, Ken has never lost the playing group which is almost unheard of after 12 years as coach, so i wouldnt be surprised if we bounce back next week. But even in the event that did happen we would falter in the prelim like always which would have to signal the end of Hinkley at PAFC.

Do you think that one finals series for one loss in 5 seasons 2015-19 was unlucky?
