PORT ADELAIDE V MELBOURNE DEMONS - ROUND 21, ADELAIDE OVAL 7:10PM ACST

Port Adelaide host the up and about Melbourne Demons in Round 21 of the 2016 AFL Season. Port Adelaide are sitting 10th with 9 wins and 10 losses, while the Dees are 11th with 9 wins and 10 losses, with percentage separating the two teams. Port are coming off an absolutely putrid performance against the Swans, where it seemed they missed the flight to Sydney, while the Dees beat the reigning premiers in an entertaining match at the MCG.

Last time we played, we won comfortably. This time wont be so easy. Melbourne have improved from that game, while we have regressed (arguably). Last time, Chad Wingard has 26 and 2 goals, Robbie had 28 and 1, while Dixon slotted 5 goals. Max Gawn was arguably BOG, with 18 touches, 48 hitouts and 2 goals.

Port Adelaide $1.45
Melbourne $2.75

Key Matchups
Jackson Trengove/Matthew Lobbe v Max Gawn

The ruck duel shapes as the most critical contest of the game, as Gawn has the wood over Jacko last time, but with Lobbe possibly returning, it may allows us to double team him, with Jacko as the pinch hitter, while Lobbe works him over the ground. Gawn is arguably the best ruckman in the game and it will be a tough task to contain him, but Jacko and Lobbe? are good enough to curb his influence.

Logan Austin v Jesse Hogan
One is a KPP who has made a name for himself as one of the best up and coming KPPs in the game! The other is Jesse Hogan! Hogan is a star of the game and is a very good KPF on his day, but when he is down, he is very easy to beat. Austin will have the tough task of manning him, but has similar attributes to Hogan. Good task, athletic and is a similar size to Hogan. In the handful of games Austin has played this year, he has shown enough to suggest he will be our full back for the next 10-12 years.

Brad Ebert v Jack Viney

A key midfield battle here. Viney combined with Gawn is a very hard duo to stop. Ebert should have the task of running with him throughout the day, but it will be up to the other mids to help him out to make sure Viney doesnt have space around the stoppage! Viney is a bull and Ebert is also a bull, but needs to be top of his game to stop Viney.

Prediction: Port are coming off arguably our worst loss of the year, while Melbourne had their best win of the year, but with these two teams, you never know! We have the wood over the Dees at Adelaide and have won all 5 of our past games. Will be an enthralling contest, thats for sure.

Port by 2 goals.
Jesse Palmer or Riley Bonner to debut.
Austin to keep Hogan goalless!

Not sure I'm fussed anymore. Winning the last three games of the season would just be wall papering the cracks but at the same time I want to improve our abysmal home record this year (lol Portress). I don't want to finish 9th again, and let's be honest the Showdown is the only remaining game we really need to win.

I think Melbourne will be a bit hungover after their best win in a hell of a long time, so Port by 16 points.

Will be there for my last game of 2016 due to work. Just going to soak it up, probably say some choice words and hoping to sing the song at the end of the match. F**k knows what team will turn up. Probably dominate and we'll drink the cool aid all week only to get smashed in showdown... Sigh, supporting this club is bloody hard.

It's alright for you, you don't have to go to it. What about those of us who are turning up because that's what we do and we don't GAF anymore because it is too painful to keep caring. Now that hurts.

I had to go on Saturday. My only home game of the year.

That hurt.

I can't even be bothered getting interested enough to care.
The bearded one cares so much that he forgot to say what day we play. :D

For those who do care make sure you turn up at 7:10pm on Thursday night. :)

I googled "who cares cup" in an attempt to find a cheap laugh that might make a good banner for you and found this. I think it's appropriate:

Losing to Malbun might just be the final nail in the coffin as far as my positivity for this current regime goes. Pls win Ports.
