Nah, he was always going high. My favourite player from the 2016 draft, and I hoped we could get him with our first but Missionpossible said I was dreaming. He was his favourite player too IIRC.

This 43 page thread starting May 2015 and moved to the Black Diamond board about 3/4 of the way in will give you a feel for it.

It started in 2012 and ended with Goodes retirement in September 2015.

It was made worse by a dopey government appointed committee naming him Australian of the year at the start of 2014.

A sportsman shouldn't get the position fullstop but getting it when he was still playing gave him a platform to talk when a lot of people didn't want him too and many people thought he was given preferential treatmentr because he was Australian of the year.

The government committee almost gave it to him on purpose to counter balance the new right wing Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

A person who kicks a piece of dead animal around and still playing shouldn't be named Australian of the year. Compare him to the 2 joint winners in January who were the divers who saved those 13 soccer players and coach stuck in a cave in Thailand last year. That is the sort of person you want as Australian of the year.

An awful lot of ducking into tackles going on in this game, most of which seems to be being rewarded. It's just such a dangerous thing to do, it's scary thinking about what could happen. It's one thing I really would like umpires to stamp out.
