it’s ignoring everything else that allows it to happen in the first place.

Excellent point. And it’s also about victims of the corrupt abuse of power finally feeling as if they can speak out due to the weight of numbers and the abuse finally being called out for what it is.

Grave Danger TeeKray have WA built up the dreamtime game as a celebration of the great WA Aborigional players as part of the reason for so much interest? Both clubs have had a few of those WA greats play for them.

Looks like Essendon have done a lot of work promoting the dreamtime game. Michael Long has transferred his Long March to Perth and Gavin is joining him and the tickets for a big chunk of the stadium were reasonably priced.

Xavier Campbell reckons they were going to lose $1mil+ by moving it, but a sellout including selling some corporate boxes means they will now probably receive $1mil from the game.

Essendon champions Michael Long and Gavin Wanganeen will lead the Long Walk of football fans from 3.30pm at Victoria Gardens along the Swan River, crossing Matagarup Bridge to Optus Stadium at 4pm ahead of the 5.40pm bouncedown of the club’s home fixture against Richmond.
.......

Tickets for Saturday’s match go on sale from 5pm on Tuesday and start at $35 for general admission. Optus Stadium management said family passes for two adults and two children were $70, a saving of $60.
......

The venue’s corporate suits were split between Essendon, Richmond, AFL tenants West Coast and Fremantle and Optus Stadium, with the allocation to all five already sold out.

Why does a current sitting board member do so much work promoting a rival club?

Something that should be asked of him by our board members and more importantly our members at the AGM.

Kinda sick of Gav involved with Essendon sh*t while he's on our board.
As has been pointed out, he was put forward to prevent the fans picking Fiachii, not because of what he brought to the table.

There's a few things mentioned on the stadium website. It's an Essendon home game, so there's the Long Walk thing (featuring G. Wanganeen), and I heard Kevin Sheedy the other day saying that they're hoping to get every WA based past Essendon player (not just Indigenous) to the game - one of them, Ben Doolan is bringing a bus load of 40 Aboriginal kids from Wiluna in the middle of WA down to the game.

Well done to Kevin Sheedy. It will good for the people of WA to actually see some indigenous people playing football.

One thing puzzles me though. Sir Douglas Nicholls was the first indigenous player to be selected for the Victorian state team in 1935 but Kevin Sheedy wasn't born until 1947.

Maybe Sheeds is like Doctor Who and with each generational change assumes a completely different appearance.

They're not allowed to have that flag painted on the oval though - ref the hoo-hah with the flag designer's copyright a few years back.
Hence that flower type design around the centre circle for all games during Rd 11.

True dat. I may try again soon enough

Aaaaaaah, I was wondering why the media were taking up Essendon so much this week, I thought it was just the usual nonsense.
Makes sense now.
