I think Houston is gone for sure but I reckon the whiplash of his head into the ground was the major reason from for concussion .

I'm not so sure that it wasn't high.

It's his head smashing the ground that caused the damage. He had not way to control his fall due to being in mid-air. Houston needed to go for his midriff, like Ryan did to Maynard in the '18 GF, if he wanted to hurt him without the possibility of head trauma.

Hitting him high in the chest caused his body to rotate.
