Backs - are ok. I wouldn't play Grimes and Broughton in the same side as they have never played a full season. Depends if your a high risk high reward player I guess. Gilbert seems like he's gonna play a new forward role this year as well. Don't know exactly what this will mean for his scoring. Bit of a risk. Nick Lower from Freo has just been promoted one to look out for in the rookies

Mids - I'm really not a fan of putting dual position premiums in your mids, Rookies yes. That's just me though. As it is the only thing I'd change is to switch Heppell or Hibberd to the back line.

Rucks - Are much better and yes bring in Smith. Not sure if McCauley or Derickx will get many games.

Fwds - Not bad, Richardson from the kanga's is a must for a rookie spot though.

You may need to see if Buckley and Polec get selected, Polec apparently played in the two's and Buckley may not get selected as the pies have a strong team.

If your going for the league win you may lose your match when the pies have their byes with swan and pendlebury in your midfield needing cover. Im not an expert but hope this helps.

Good team although Gilbert a bit of an unnecessary risk and some of the reserves are a bit iffy, like Pitt and I.Smith.

Definetly not a bad team but I think not having Swan may hurt you, I like Hurley in defence as I was going to place him in my team and still may as im tweaking it around a bit. He should have a good year.

Boak, selwood, pendlebury should definetly improve on their already good avg's. Unsure on Higgins but hes crossed my mind a bit.

Instead of Pav id say try get sylvia I rekn hes gonna have a great year (not that pav wont do well just rekn sylvia will excel higher). Rioli in Forwards would be a great choice too but then again with buddy there it makes the byes a bit of a concern.

Pretty happy with my backline and midfield. Just tossing up whether I should move players around to be able to afford Cox, Sandi duo.

And I know petrie wont play rnd 1 and 3, but it saves a trade keeping him because I'd grab him come rnd 4
anyway

Instead of Petrie I was thinking of Astbury or maybe Gamble and spending the extra 50k to upgrade someone else

Biggest problem I see with my team is Petrie too... I have 38k in the bank but i'm not really sure who i should upgrade to. I also know i'll want him come round 4.. but i don't see either of my bench players starting. any suggestions on a ruckman from the 9 - 120k mark who is a good chance of starting rounds 1,2,3.

Anyway a bit worried about the huge similarities in teams this year?

Not bad Cake, pretty similar to mine at this stage. I like the selection of Gwilt, he has snuck into my team too, a much better option than Adcock IMO.

Why ?

Adcock is cheaper and has a history of being a better scorer. Gwilt's best ever scoring year is 74 -last year - whilst Adcock averaged 88 in 2007 playing 22 games.

In 2009 Adcock was averaging 90 before he got injured in round 16. And yes, that's the risk, but I fail to see how Gwilt could possiby be a "much better option". One is a proven scorer and the other isn't.

I'd rather take a risk with Adcock playing 20 games than Gwilt becoming a 90 average player. And if Adcock goes down in round 16 having averaged 90 he'll have paved a platform for a decent trade, whilst earning decent points in the meantime.
