Re: Post your team Part 1

Chaplin = Terrible DTer
Boumann in my mind wont play early on if at all
Same with Heslin and Redpath, Heslin more of a chance

Better rookies in the middle than Tyson, Dyson and Smith

M Bailey = Terrible injury history, risky
Get Gilles and Stephenson on to your ruck bench

Roughead wont be at 100% come rnd 1 IMO. Could play as a deep deep forward at the beginning of the season resulting in low scores
I dont see any improvement for Dahlhaus
Lycett wont play unless 1 of Cox or NicNat gets an injury
Hitchcock has poor job security and has no room for improvement IMO
Gumbleton will play a max of 5 games in 2012
Forward bench is ok

Got 77.2k left in the bank, I need to make some changes to my mid so I have some swap players with the backs and the fwds for when the byes come round any other help would be greatly appreciated !!

Not bad! My only concerns would be Grimes, Lake, Barlow, Hayes, Porplyzia, and even Cox and Brown to an extent are pretty big risks! If they come off, you're sweet, but if even 2 or 3 of those fail/get injured then you're behind the 8 ball.

I have a strategy but I could have judged it wrong. Can somebody help?

I have Goddard and Deledio in the mids due to their DPP. Once my defender rookies (for example, Morris) have reached their peak I can trade him for a mid. To do this I will move Goddard into the defence and recruit a more expensive mid.
Is this how it will work? If so, the game has just became very very tactical but I can see some HUGE scores this year.

I don't know enough about your rookies to comment however a few holes I see are

McIntosh - Probably the #2 ruck now. If he can kick goals then this could be a good pick but I can't see him averaging over 65 tbh.

Didak - I think he's probably finished. Will depend on how Buckley uses him but they went to effort keeping McCaffer and their forward line functions well without him.

Maybe hold off on Swan until his price drops? (if that actually happens)

I expect Walsh to play. Was promised game time early which will at the very least increase his value.
On your player v player I'd go:

Birchall (More consistent)
Broughton (2nd year blues for Heppell, maybe?)
Leuenberger (Sandi is too injury prone, Leuy great 2nd have of season)
Beams (Cheaper, on the rise)
Zaha (No reason, could go either way)

Re: Post your team Part 1

After an hour of mixing and matching, I've decided to play the risky card with my rucks and sacrificed that department for what I like to call, 'The Midfield of Pain'.

Defenders: Goddard, P. Hanley, S. Burgoyne, J.Patfull, R. Shaw, J.Trengove, P. Davis. (Z. Dawson, J. King-Wilson)

Midfielders: D.Swan, S.Pendlebury, C.Judd, S. Mitchell, G.Ablett, Hoskin - Elliot (E. Kavanagh, D. Butcher)

Forwards: L. Franklin, N. Riewoldt, J. Riewoldt, K. Harper, I. Folau, J. Brown. (H. Crozier, J. Redpath)

Rucks: I. Maric, O. Stephensen (J. Giles, T. Downie).

Cheers mate appreciate it. McIntosh is probably the main player I'm not sure on. He's the most likely to find his way out of my team first.

Regarding Didak, was too cheap not to put in, but obviously comes down to a) an uninterupted preseason (unlike last year) and b) NAB cup form.. But you're right. Both risky.

And Swan's price drop... yeah, not waiting it doesn't ever happen :p

Very balanced and has some depth. (Rucks and Forwards - Treloar should get some game time this year). Nice stuff dude.

Dont waste your money on Dawson, not the type of player the will score above 60, better to use it on a rookie who will most likely get game time such as Morris

Yeah, I tossed up between him and Tarrant, was merely using them as a way to be able to afford the midfield. I dunno if I want to keep all my eggs in one basket though. Been 4 years since I've made a Dream Team. Did fairly well (finished something like 700th) and won my tournament.

Thanks for the tip H.

Maybe too many kids to rely on? 300K is a fair bit to have in the bank and easily you could spend half of that and essentially you could balance it out more with people who will be guaranteed to get more games. Aside from that the Rucks, Mids and Defense look awesome. Sam Jacobs has been someone I overlooked and now I'm having second thoughts (really, I overlooked all the rucks anyway). Great stuff :thumbsu:

TheCerealKillee

You've gone a real guns/rookies approach - 8 rookies starting seems excessive for mine, but you will get a lot of value from them, so if they can start well it's a risk worth taking.

Of your guns, my concerns lie around Heppell, Adcock, Goldstein and Barlow. Not saying get rid of them, just look at their roles;
Macintosh back could hurt Goldy,
Barlow needs his running game to accumulate points, make sure he's fully fit.
Heppell is just a 2nd year, he was good last year, but he didn't set the world on fire, if he's going to be a gun you start with he needs to be one of the best, make sure you believe he'll pick up 90 each week.
Adcock - with the rise of Hanley and Mcgrath in the back along with a few new recruits he could be released to midfield, which should be good. My only concern is durability. But most of your other players are pretty good, so ok to risk one with injury concerns.

Good team, if a bit rookie-heavy.

Re: Post your team Part 1

BACKS: DELEDIO, GODDARD, BROUGHTON, GRIMES, LAKE, CLARKE, ELLIS ( Smedts, Wilkes)

MIDS: SWAN, ABLETT, PENDLEBURY, HAYES, CLIFTON, SHEILS ( Stevens, Mitchell )

RUCKS: LEUENBURGER, GILES ( Stephenson, Witts )

FORWARDS: SJ, BEAMS, FRANKLIN, MARTIN, ZAHARAKIS, BROWN, TRELOAR ( Zorko, Sexton)

I wouldn't touch Lake, but that's just me, he looked so bad last year - injured or not, he could hardly kick the thing.

Broughton - check what Lyon does with him, could be boom or bust.

3 most expensive mids is ballsy imo, but you should get good rewards if they light it up early and could really put yourself streets ahead of others.

Hayes i'm not so sure about, he does look good preseason though, just not sure if St Kilda are the force they were and whether that will affect him (most likely not - he's a champ), new coach always has me a bit scratchy too. Good to hear he's playing NAB so we can check him out.

Such risk with those rucks, but i guess you need to go that to get Swan and Co. - go for it!

Standard forwards, all good - Brown is obviously my concern, but when he did play last year he was good. Very cheap, personally i'd go porplyzia to save some cash and potentially similar output given Adelaide's easy run.

I really don't like those backs too much - they don't show Dream Team to me.
I've actually had Shaw in the past and he was cr@p, not good with Swans.
Burgoyne is probably more of a SC type, but he's ok.
Patfull, hmm, i reckon other brissy players get more of the ball, Brisbane are playing a DT-friendly game, so he's not the worst choice.
Trengove, i can't really support any Port choices - Maybe a rookie or R. Gray, but that's it.

Obviously your mids are outrageous, although i'd have Swallow ahead of Judd, North have an easy run, developing midfield and Swallow will be priming. Judd's has a bit of surgery in off season and really fell away end of last year.

Harper up forward is interesting, he could come good, i just don't see him having consistency to be gaining enough money to upgrade.
Brown is risky, but could pay off, he'll be a popular choice.

You know your rucks are poor, but it's part of your strategy - good luck to you.

I actually don't mind this side and think it's one of the better ones I've seen posted :thumbsu:

A nice balance of firepower, mid-priced risk and rookies. Obviously a bit of thought has gone into it.

I've made a few changes. Defense reads now:

Goddard, Hanley, Burgoyne, Ibbotson, Trengrove, Davis, Buntine. (Sierrkowski, Morris).

Swapped Judd for Swallow and Mitchell for Hodge.

I need to bolster some of my backups for players who were more likely to get games.

Midfield will still slaughter, I get less doughnuts. (Hopefully).

Thanks for the feedback. Apprieciate it. :thumbsu:
