Post Your Team (Part 2)

I have been trying to get into the pre- season this year and struggling because of limited access to pay TV and no view of the GWS rookies.
A lot of the team based on other peoples comments on this board, which makes me uncomfortable, the team feels very vanilla.
Oddly enough, ’cause I am worried about other people’s comments influencing my team, I am seeking your views on my team...I am worried about too many Suns in the midfield, basing my entire ruck policy on others view of a Sun's player I have never seen, I need to find a midfielder who can Dual position back and have $4,800 in the bank (though happy to shift around players to make things happen).

Backs: Goddard, H Shaw, Deledio, Suban, Dempsey, Hargrave, M Clarke (Morris, L Brown)

Thanks but how come? I thought most people would think Team 1 is better.

Masten > Smith
Cloke = Johnson (this year, IMO)
Couch < Saad
Pendlebury = Swan

What do other people think :)

EDIT: Sorry, posted the teams again because it was the last post of the previous page and nobody looks at that.

If Pendles = Swan then save money. And if Cloke = Johnson take cloke.

Smith will rise in value a lot and you will be able to use that money to field a better side. Smith's points don't have to rise as much as Masten to make a profit and if Smith gets 80ppg then his profit margin will be huge compared to what you can get from Masten.

Now the money saved on the 1st choices + the profit on Smith should give you a extra premo come the pointy end.

Cheers Mattrox, point taken. I can keep Masten AND Smith if I downgrade Leuenberger to Jacobs or McEvoy, BUT to get McEvoy (my preferred choice) I need to find another $1,200 from somewhere, any suggestions?

Some thoughts:
- 3 premium defenders with round 13 bye (but two are DPPs) in goddard, deledio and birchall. backline looks good though.
- i like your midfield premiums, have to wait and see on which rookies play.
- solid rucks.
- good forwardline.

Sorry couldn't be more constructive. I guess maybe it's fairly similar to my team.

I've made a big effort with bye strategy, maybe to the detriment of my team (such as Waters as a R11 premium/injury nightmare)? rookies still to work out next week:

Defenders
Carazzo, Shaw, Birchall, Waters, Hargrave, Clark, Ellis
Smedts Darley

Midfielders
Pendlebury, Ablett, Selwood, Murphy, D. Smith, C. Smith
Clifton, Miles

Rucks
Cox, Redden
Giles, Stephenson

Forwards
Franklin, Goodes, Fyfe, Martin, Dangerfield, Porplyzia, Saad
Treloar, Hall

$65,000.

My main concern is that I want a premium defender with a round 11 bye, and I may be risking too many mid-pricers with Dangerfield, Porplyzia, Waters, Hargrave, Clark. Cheers for any comments.

Team as follows, feedback and criticism appreciated, thanks guys
Backs:
Goddard, Scotland, H. Shaw, Lake, Guthrie, Ellis, Darley (BROWN, YAGMOOR)

Midfield:
Ablett, Murphy, Selwood, Redden, Wingard, Miles (COUCH, MAGNER)

Rucks:
Cox, Mumford (REDDEN, GILES)

Forward:
Franklin, Martin, Fyfe, Dangerfield, Porplyzia, D.Smith, Pfeiffer (SAAD, SMEDTS)

Re: Post Your Team Part 2

While Dangers plays more time in the midfield he should be a 110 - 85 player consistently ~95, Porps will probably average 85+ if he gets in full swing a little more.

For value Porps - risk = injury and losing all the money he built up....
For consistency Dangers, and who knows with him in the middle he just might crack 100ppg average.

But I don't think I'd take the risk with both. But that's just me.

Green = Players I think are good, solid selections
Black = Could go either way, will need a bit of luck on your side for them to be worthwhile
Red = Spuds. I wouldn't even consider them.

Overall, I think you have too many mid-priced selections and not enough genuine guns. For instance, you only have one gun in your back line.

Cheers mate, yeah to be honest only really started thinking about the bye today, i dont have a player who can sub into my defence, so i might have to tweak one of the three premiums or try and get a defense/mid. But thats the only real problem i have found.

Mids will just wait till round one and re assess theres a few i rate outside the ones ive selected like miles. I traded kerridge for mid pricer aswell for a mid pricer in masten(better live up to hype).

Your team is pretty solid, i am personally not sold on beau waters, think he might break down, just have a hunch, and i only see him as an 80-90 max output guy, but he might be one i look to upgrade too.

I too have the 1:3 ruck strategy, but really it means we have to be happy with consistent 50's- 60's from the 2nd ruck. Im not overly sold on hargrave, but i see him popping up in many teams, so ill watch him and check out his stats, i know he had a good season a few years back, but hes a guy i see only averaging 70 odd.

I think the mid pricers you have are all relatively safe, dangerfield is a lock in most teams, Clarke is really cheap(rookie pricing) a lock in most teams, Hargrave cant really comment on, no idea about his pre season, waters is the only one i worry about, but as you stated the bye strucutre might force your hand. Porp is looking awesome, im waiting to see how he scores in the nab granny to judge whether to take him or not, i think he will have a huge year.

DEF: Shaw, Deledio, Birchall, Duffield, Hargrave, Ellis, Darley, (Morris, Bugg)
MID: Pendles, Ablett, Selwood, Montagna, Clifton, C.Smith, (McDonald, Magner)
RUC: Cox, McEvoy, (Giles, Redden)
FWD: Chapman, Franklin, Martin, Sidebottom, Dangerfield, D.Smith, Saad, (Hall, Couch)

Cash left: -$2,400 =D.

Thoughts:
  • Clearly the team is illegal, due to salary cap extortion. Rookies will change.
  • Goddard is a headache - terrible NAB form, new coach, but everyone has him, so if he starts 2012 with a bang, then I'm stuffed. If he starts 2012 like 2011 though, =D
  • I have a 10/9/11 bye ratio at the moment, which is bothersome. Need to look at more R12/13 rookies, but there's so many tasty Giants.
  • Chapman and Franklin is a bit top-heavy IMO - I'd like to ditch one for a Zaharakis-type (although Zaha himself has been underwhelming so far).
  • Orren has been dropped, for obvious reasons.
  • Miles goes in over Old McDonald if he's named Round 1.
  • Porps over Danger if he goes bang in the GF. Would free up cash, too. Could ditch Franklin/Chappy for Porplyzia to free up even more cash, as Danger looks good this year (no bias intended).

Other's thoughts?

DEFENDERS:

Scotland, Goddard, Carrazzo, Enright, Hardingham, Clarke, Bugg, (Spurr, Darrou)

MIDFIELD:

Boyd, Ablett, Murphy, Sumner, Smith, Miles, (Neale, Magner)

RUCKS:

Leuenberger, Giles, (Redden, Stephenson)

FORWARDS:

Johnson, Chapman, Franklin, Goodes, Zaharakis, Dangerfield, Pfeiffer, (Zorko, Lynch)

Wouldn't mind knowing what you think, feel free to throw some advice, cheers.

^why post a team that you can't even have for round 1? Guess if you drop Saad for a cheaper rookie its fine, but still.....

The rookies I pick are going to be largely based on Round 1 selections by coaches. Given a one-rookie swap, or one slight downgrade of a premium, will make the team "legal", I didn't see any harm in posting it. Was just after general feedback, that's all.
