Oh boy we are slow
I'd suggest becausewe seem to slow the game down deliberately/consistently that it must be a strategy.... it's the first match practice... a little rusty but every team would be...

Nankervis, Taranto, Hopper, Lynch, MRJ, Smillie, Balta, Prestia, Short, Vlaustin, Broad. And that's 11 off the top of my head. Now, do we include Lefau and Gibcus in there as well? So 13 and I didn't even have to think about it. Who else did I miss?
Trent Dustin and jack

Game will be over by qtr time. Can totally see Carlton kicking 8 or so goals in the first quarter
Who cares? We are year 1 of a rebuild after the vast majority of our flag teams have retired or moved on. Carlton are in the window - they should be pumping us. They should have pumped us last year but we had them on toast until we copped 3 injuries before half time and even then we stayed with them.

The crap being written in here after 3 x 25 mins match sim played at 9:30 in the morning in Feb by a group of kids who have never played together is laughable. A fair few in here need to take a good hard look at themselves and chill the **** out. If you have to live your lives vicariously through some kids, you have bigger problems.

Trezise is a spud. No idea how he is on an AFL list.

I disagree. I didn’t think he was our worst today and I reckon he’ll be a player with another thirty games under his belt. Reminds me a bit of Broad … absolute deer in the headlights at times early in his career but just got better each game as his confidence grew.

I’ve seen enough glimpses of quality play from Tresize to not dismiss him as a player.

Why we think everyone who has less than a dozen games is the finished article is beyond me. Didn’t Grimes, Rance, Lambert, Astbury, Broad, Houli, Edwards, Castagna, McIntosh etc.. teach us anything about patience?

yep remember when hawkins gave an all mighty shove to a tiger defender resulting in a chain reaction and soldos knee buckling and missing 18 months of footy
umpires verdict - nothing to see here, mark/free kick cats.
What ever happened to the 'Potential to cause injury' rule?

Was only ever handed out to Dustin Martin in 2019. Never forgotten how frothy Gerard Flogly got on 360 over such a great concept from the tribunal. I think he actually blew his load that night on air.

Dusty copped 2 weeks (later appealed down to 1)

Admittedly, he did elbow GWS Adam Kennedy in the head off the ball, was very soft but clearly high. No harm done whatsoever, probably earnt the 1 week for high contact, but the extra week was based on potential. CFL pricks.

Never heard that charge get wheeled out since.

At the very least, Porkins on Soldo, and Golden shower Ginbey's actions toe that line of basic sportsmanship and decency, Let alone the 'Potential to cause damage'.

The stupid thing is he has already played good AFL games. The comparison with Broad is a good one, I think he is a very similar type of player. Broad is a bit taller but both very committed defensive players who can run all day, and match up on a variety of player types. Both started out iffy kicks but we have seen with Broad he has become more and more sound by foot over time. No reason to believe Trezise won't do the same.

Lol 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆

Dunno it looks pretty intentional to me? If he's concussed he deserves weeks.

AFL needs to jump on pushing players into the contest. Players are getting badly injured. The cats game is one that comes to mind in which Balta was pushed by Tom Hawkins and caused Soldo an knee reco from memory... just a matter of time until bad concussion occurs... could have been Lalaw today? If your beaten your beaten pushing ? Game can do without it...Just my 2c worth.

they will immediately jump on it once rolls are reversed and it's a richmond player that does the pushing.
AFL are just waiting..bank on it.

AFL needs to look at the shoving players into packs.

agree that is was overzealous and unnecessary from ginbey, but don't think pushing someone into contact is a suspendable action given the impact was from another player, even though ginbey contributed
The Hawkins manoeuvre.

Saw it about half a dozen times from him. Never had a case to answer.

Such a great guy, everybody loves him, just like Stewart.

Dangerfield also shoving Vlaustin as he was kicking the ball in a practice game causing him to tear his hammy and a delayed start to 2022 season. Tigger must hate that campaigner.

After watching Bauer today, there is no way he's even competing for Lefau's spot. Lefau brings speed and aggression which this team has absolutely none.

The rest of our players to come back (especially those that get a lot of the ball) are slow though, we are going to struggle so badly to move the ball this season against any competent team. Think in 2023 we had a lot of wet weather games, we will need the same this year to get a few wins.

That was a brutal watch. Really hard to find any positives.

It's going to be a long year if those kick-mark tactics are what we will employ. And I hardly think a side projected to win <5 games this year needs to be worried about hiding their game plan.

Where is all the overlap run coming from though to play fast? Who are our quicker players that are gonna get a lot of the ball through the middle to make a difference. If Hopper, Taranto, Prestia types are going to be our high disposal winners again, its just going to be hacking the ball forward or slow play.

Trying to play fast with slow players will be extremely hard word that will come undone very quickly and have an avalanche of goals go the other way after quarter time, just like today happened anyway.

Last year we were way short of quick skillful players to play modern footy, hence we won only 2 games. Now we lost our 2 best by a mile (and Baker was probably next best).

I don't see any miracle tactics to win us many games this season, probably the next few years as well. With a slow team you better absolutely smash teams at stoppages, surely we've seen enough of Hopper and Taranto now, that they cant do that. We somehow lose the clearances as well.

We should all care actually, but it’s expected so I’m not going to be losing my shit about it but getting pumped every week is no fun. Hopefully it doesn’t happen and we put up a fight.

I just hope we take the game on and not chip it around like we did yesterday.

Hooper Lynch Prestia an injury waiting to happen Short Broad coming off worst season for them older and with nothing around to help them will struggle. MRJ we all know he won't be a superstar, Now Balta is the worry his blind as a bat. Nank a pass as we have no one else and his still going strong. Lefau and gibcus well who knows . Vlaustin a pass and Hopper well hopper f m. That leaves TT who also had a bad season. In theory over 30s and there's a few there won't take you far.
Ok that leaves us with who you forgot hummm Michaels croc t71 and the wig fellow if only we can get them off the couch and onto the field things might improve. Dude which ever way you look at it we in for a struggle but that's OK ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END I predict about 5 years we will start showing something if the draftees come good and the future draftees as well. hypothetically you will be right if everything worked out and all were at there best.
Vlas 31, Prestia 32,Short 29, Lynch 32, Nank 30,Broad 32, TT hoper wont be around when we come good 28, Headband 31.
I take it all back it's depressing lol

I guess if we don't slow it down we would get a shellacking every week at least some time off will help.

The way we moved the ball into our forward line- Jesus Christ would of struggled to be fair.
