Nah, it was the younger ones only. Geary is seriously elite on time trial, like top 10 in the league elite.

Newnes performance is encouraging. I don't think fitness has been his issue playing MF though, I just think his positioning, reactions, and overall strengths mean he'll always fit better as being a ball-player off HB. Having a good tank means he can run out from the back and break lines - certainly no shame in that.
I don't know if it was just the younger ones. Isn't that Joey to the right of Newnes?

Jesus, in that case Newnes has done great. Saunders always had a good tank coming out of juniors but he has done well. And its unbelievable from McKenzie.
Or its seriously worrying for others.
Or the senior players were there, but not being timed.

Seriously I noted Geary's 3km time a couple years ago and compared it with times that other clubs published (not all do), and he was 4th. Out of those that clubs published, I think Ebert was best if I recall correctly. I can't see how Geary ran and 3 people beat him, including a rookie.

Anyone know why all of a sudden this year people are doing 2km instead of 3?

They did a 3km a few weeks back from memory.

I think 2ks is more a measure of speed over pure endurance. I know I fall off after about 2kms during a 3km trial.

Theyll do both 3km & 2km trials during the preseason.

Blivcas is quickest in league over 3km apparently

No way was Geary running this time trial. He simply does not lose at these, let along by a significant margin. Still a great effort from Newnes though.

Yes I've been told that before.
But Geelong didn't publish their numbers. Most clubs post up their top 5 or something similar, but Cats weren't one of them. I cant remember all the clubs who did and didnt, I think it was out of 14 clubs I could find info for.

Yeah, sign up guys. Will be great if everyone could have their own player to sponsor. Still need another 15-20 to fill it. It doesnt need to be a big commitment as you could probably just do it when you have time. C'mon guys, give it a crack. It will be lots of fun.

What's involved? I don't understand exactly.

Basically, we each get to choose a Saints listed player (in a draft format), then you 'promote' and make discussion etc. etc. on your player over the year.

It's all a bit of fun, so even a bit of 'pumping of the tyres' would be allowable.

Just an activity to get us all on this board conversing throughout the year. :thumbsu:

Per above; for reference:

And Lee now:

Funny what a bit of competition, some training and conditioning continuity and a slice of luck injury-wise does to a fella...

Well done Tom.
