Miles equals no run, no skill by foot but in and under packs shoveling out
Two out of three ain't bad. Miles rarely misses a target by foot.

His lack of run will see him struggle to get a game when all are fit.

Disagree. And we need more players that get down and dirty not less.

Take into account miles actually being able to play a bit more outside because of the increased depth too.

Hes been known to get forward and kick a goal.

Our best mid in that north final too.
Miles was our best mid in that final because his man was helping Jacobs tag Cotchin.

Correct. Too slow and can't run hard enough for wing/flanks, not nippy enough for pockets.

Let him lead us to a VFL flag.

As inside mid back up goes, he is as good as you could wish for, but sadly for him, he will be back up only.

Midfield video was cool. Dusty stiff arming the whole team. What a monster.
Another thing I've loved hearing from the player interviews throughout the pre-season are the comments regarding Nank.
For example I think it was Short yesterday, may have been Lambert but one of them said having Nank is great because if you're not careful he will just go right through ya.
This is one of the main reasons I was so keen on us chasing him during the trade period, he brings a level of aggression to the midfield setup we really need.
Also getting excited about this bloke...

Conca, on one knee, watching his career go by.

Disagree as it appears he wants to add more strings to his bow.The bloke is a pro who works on getting better at his game, unlike a lot of his sidekicks.

This sentence i liked as it shows his qualities:

He’s earned an impressive reputation throughout that time with the Tigers for his inside midfield work, but wants to add some more flexibility to his game in season 2017.

******* lol.

Cotchin has won a brownlow.
Martin just finished 3rd in the brownlow.

Both far better players than cornes.

Ellis. Well yea hes definitely been down on form. But so has the entire port Adelaide midfield

Not to mention our game plan and lack of forward options definitely contributed to them getting the ball in the back half
23 metres gained for Cotchin is a pretty damning stat!

I'm not convinced on Short. I hope I'm wrong but time will tell.
I think Short is a bit like Miles, if they don't make it, it won't be for lack of effort. Reckon Short has been proving coaches and such wrong his whole career, even though I'm like you, just doesn't seem big or strong enough. He does have a good shoe on him though which makes up for a lot.

“I continue to challenge myself on improving my aerobic base every pre-season,” Miles told ‘Roar Vision’.

“I’m not overly quick, so to improve aerobically, and be able to get around the ground, is really important for me.

to me thats him acknowledging his current play style is limted. As RATD said above, his lack of run prevents him from being put out onto the wing or anywhere else to keep this simple

Yes it is. Usually cos hes in the pack dishing it out (like miles) as he isnt playing in space like he was in 2012! Small kicks and handpasses in congestion and majority in the defensive half of the ground would be why the number is so small.

The Richmond coaches and players alike seem to praise Nankervis a lot in interviews. It'll be interesting to see how he goes. Given the whole banning of 3rd man up, it would be good if he solidifies in our best 22.
