Ok writing match opinion before I've read anyone's so apologies if I repeat a lot of what's already been said. Players that stood out:
1. Vlastuin looked comfortable in midfield and also went forward. Solid without being spectacular but good early touches and body work.
2. Grimes very good in defence. Positioning and intercept marking excellent and looked really mobile.
3. Prestia pretty quiet, looked a bit slow and rushed at times. Still getting back fitness I'm guessing.
4. Dusty did so much, so easily. Escaped (most) tackles had heaps of time, set up goals, kicked goals. When he's really trying he"ll be unstoppable.
5. Ellis some nice running and link work. Nothing special. EDIT: Apparently he wasn't even on the park
6. Griggs, to my surprise, is still best 22. Good use by hand and foot, positions well, led up and goaled late. Helped in clearances, got it out quickly to running players.
7. Lennon worked hard, 4 goals, great hands and a good kick. Adds class to the forward half. Should play round 1 and I'm expecting a breakout year. I'm so confident I've changed my avatar.
8. Jack was Jack (and that's a great thing)
9. Cotch very quiet, seemed to be jogging mostly. A few nice clearances, and some handy short kicks, but mostly in 2nd gear i thought.
10. Shed tried hard, didn't notice a lot though. Looks slower than many.
12. Astbury very good intercept marks. Not sure if he was on Jack mostly (in which case he let him get away a bit), but should make a great lineup with Grimes and Rancey.
17. Daniel Rioli. Wow. Looked to have done his knee at one point trying to take a speccy in the goalsquare - I was flat as a tack for the next 15 mins. Then he runs down Dusty from behind! Tackles a lot, runs a lot. Really sharp, was in everything, super fast, nice decision-making. Kicks well and knows where the goals are. Get ready for greatness AFL world!
20. Maric looked fit. Still hardly jumps in the ruck, but effective on the day. Some good ground work including blocking, tackling and even a don't argue.
24. Griff looked ok in his role as ruck / forward.
26. Miles was handy.
28. Hunt should not be required in the 22.
29. Bolton looks exciting, fast and works hard. Ran hard and jumped high to spoil two taller opponents. Kicking is very questionable though, and given his size I'm not expecting him to play seniors anytime soon.
30. Conca got a few nice touches but nothing special.
33. McIntosh looked back to his best, moving well on the flanks.
41. Chol had a go, but couldn't hold a mark. Positioning needs work, ineffective in the ruck.
47. Soldo a real surprise. Ruckwork has improved and took some good marks in attack and defence. Looks like this project player may pay off sooner than i expected.
I've left out a lot who had some good touches like Butler, CEllis, Markov, Lloyd. The white shirts and dodgy camerawork and commentary made it hard to follow everyone.

You forgot Tyson Stengle. Just has a good footy brain and very dangerous with ball in hand. I'd love to see him promoted early.
