SPS doesn't have the skills nor runs on the board to pull off a haircut like that in the actual season.

Bet it's gone before round 1.

Simmo obviously asked him to shave his sideburns.

Yeoy is looking ripped - looks like he could kill a brown bear. Gotta hand it to our guys, they are super fit this time round.

We have no idea how fit they actually are though, until the season starts and we can see how they stack up in games against fitter, more professional outfits.

If you're referring to how they look, i'll agree it's pretty good considering. Although the bar hasn't been set very high these past few seasons, it must be said.

If XON ends up as our 7th best mid we’d be in a very good position.
If we have a fit squad he will start behind Shuey, Yeo, Kelly and Sheed in the 'best mid' list. If a couple of Culley, Ginbey and Hewitt (or Trew if pre-season reports are correct) go past him that would put him in 7th spot.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't think rucks are super important.

I'd rather have a gun midfield and a big Boy McEvoy, Lycett, Clark Keating, Mummy type over a decent midfield with the best ruck.

A good backline will cover a so so ruck too

You need a decent ruck who can at least compete as a minimum. Anything else is just gravy

A lot of people seem to prefer Jamo to Williams, but to me he's more a second ruck but doesn't contribute enough forward to play that role effectively.

You could make the same case for Williams, but I feel Bailey has the scope to do it better.

Jamo looked good around the ground but I also question whether he'll be good enough in the ruck to make it at this level at all.

Ideally we'd have convinced Meek to come here, as I feel he could have been an effective Number 1 post Naitanui, with Barnett developing behind him ready to take the mantle eventually. Shame that was never really on the table.
All rucks tend to be slow burns. The lack of oxygen getting up there really shows.

Williams should be good for a goal a game plus some Naitanui like center bounce taps- However around the ground he likely struggles against bigger bodies. I think will be a real pull your hair out type of player who ill have his fair share of clangers but perfect for team balance as the 2nd ruck.

Jamieson is kind of going nowhere. Not big enough, athletic enough and doesn't do much when not in the ruck.

Cannot understand Jamie over Williams, Williams had a far better year and they’re practically the same age.
Williams to me is projecting like kurt tippet . Ultra athletic but does **** all for the first half of his career . 2nd half ?

Jamo looks to be a tap ruck that will always be the back up until Sydney steal him and he becomes a serviceable number 1 with a gun midfield around him

Odd, never thought there's anything special about Jamos ruck taps.

Let's be honest, they're both pretty bad.

Williams has the athletic traits to be something special, and yet he just isn't going up a notch. In fact, he regularly gives those who think he's a spud plenty of ammunition. Like missing from the goal square, or being invisible for long stretches of a game, being no threat in the air whatsoever. With his size and leap he should DOMINATE the undersized WAFL rucks in 2023. No reason why he shouldn't.

Meanwhile Jamieson projects as pretty deadset average ruck to me, but tip of the cap, at least does a lot of follow up and stays in the game more than Williams does IMO. Battles away and keeps cracking in, whilst Bailey sooks and drops his head.

In the end it'll be who can play forward better, and although he's pretty bad at it, Williams is still preferable to Jamieson. They'll be hidden on the bench for large stretches of the game anyway.

Would love playing Jilliams instead, someone who can actually play forward properly, but i doubt he's ready for even chop outs yet.
