I like Hewett. Think he’s a very good chance of being a top 5 player from his draft year because he’s a natural footballer. Skilled on both sides and f his body

That said, from what I’ve observed at training I don’t think he has the tank to play four quarters of football as a midfielder in the AFL. I’m not saying that as a criticism just an observation

It won’t surprise me in the slightest if he’s selected as the sub for round 1, in fact I think he should be as the best player for that role

This pretty closely echoes Schoeys comments after calling the first match aim. Burst/impact player late in games. As long as we can find a way to supplement this with getting his tank up, and exposing him to full games in the Magoo's to work on his craft

Sub is good for us this year in that we can start some players who are not quite ready for full games.

The genius move was bringing him back for a few meaningless games at the end of one of our worst seasons after he'd already tried to come back in round 16/17 and been too sore to keep playing.

I’m not worried about him getting his hands on the weights, I’m interested to see if he can get his hands on the footy in the guts enough to justify his spot on the team.

Unavailable - Darling, Barnett, Baker, Dewar, J Williams, Bazzo
Rested/Managed - Naitanui, Shuey, Hurn, McGovern, Chesser
Omitted - LEdwards, Winder, Trew, Foley, West, Burgiel, Clark

Don’t think Shuey or Naitanui get up and because it’s a practice match the club won’t risk them. McGovern left early on Monday so guessing they’ll give him a rest after a big preseason, along with old man Hurn. Chesser they’ll continue the conservative approach they’ve taken all preseason with him

Having done that exercise it’s going to be difficult to bring in down to 23, especially with Darling and the other managed players to potentially be ready for round 1

Well I was wrong about Gov, Hurn, Chesser and Shuey all being rested as they’ve all been named. Clark also named and not missing as I thought

HEdwards, SPS, Long , Culley and Hough all missing from my guess
