With regards to the ruck if NN misses a chunk of this season through injury - We are all discussing Jamieson / Williams and a few as possible chop outs in there but I note that Harry Barnett got some minutes in the intraclub yesterday. He’s been nursed through much of the preseason with a niggle but very encouraging as it would have been an intense enough hitout a week before R1.

We might not be talking Jamieson / Williams for as long as some might think as it’s a little uncommon to get the number one ruck from the draft come in quite built and not just tall / skilled. With HB also showing he could play at SANFL level last year he may push to be breathing down their necks with some good early WAFL form fingers crossed. I think he’s gonna be a gun and won’t take too long to start showing us what he’s got tbh

Get ready for some pain losers. This season we're likely to win more games than last, but we'll still stink and it'll be worse because we'll have a better playing list and still be cellar dwellers.

It's the recession we have to have, and it's not all bad, we'll see some kids develop and get some high draft picks and best of all - prepare yourself for some breakroom punch-ons with chirpy Cockburn supporters up and about for their 7 yearly preliminary finals peak before returning to irrelevance.

Cannot wait!
I hope we get the best key forward in the draft this year.

It was never funny when sharkie was doing it, but it is farken hilarious now

Thanks Basil. I just want to give you a bit of an insight into the saturday afternoon team. We’re a bunch of unique individuals – Malthouse, Harley, Zempilas, Mclachlan and myself. We’re gonna engage with our minds and our hearts. We’re gonna exchange ideas, thoughts and even our energy. And to speak from your heart you need to have courage. You need to be honest and authentic. We’re not always gonna get it right. And sometimes, you’re not going to agree with us. But that’s okay, because just like you we care. Just like you, we’re passionate about the game. So if you want to come along for the ride, join us on saturday arvos, because we just love the footy.

You know, I’m something of a poet myself

On the West Coast the eagles soared,
Their game was strong, their spirits roared,
AFL Premiership was in their sight,
Their team was ready for the fight.

The players trained hard, day and night,
Their skills were sharp, their form was tight,
Coach Simmo led them with his might,
And they were all set for the final flight.

The crowd cheered on as they took the field,
Their opponents quaked, they knew they'd yield,
The eagles charged, they were on fire,
Their victory was something to admire.

But fate had other plans in store,
A twist of fate they couldn't ignore,
Reuben Ginbey's toe was sore,
And his game was hindered to the core.

Coach Simmo tried to make a change,
But Gaff in the midfield was just too strange,
His credits in the bank were spent,
And the eagles' hopes were soon to be bent.

The game was lost, the eagles cried,
Their dreams were shattered, their hearts denied,
The Premiership was out of reach,
And they were left with pain to teach.

The West Coast eagles may have lost,
But their spirits were not fully tossed,
They'll rise again, stronger than before,
And soar to victory once more.

Pride is born of isolation,
I wish Birds of Tokyo death after castration,
The omen that killed a club previously flying high,
The executives that approved the song change are too dishonourable to suicide,

A Sheed and a Gaffy jogging refusing to leg it,
Forever in eternity jogging with their eternal credit,
A beach dog race is sighted they are the best of friends,
holding hands forever bbqs refusing to defend,

2023 arrives a brand new season hope lifts slightly,
One weak tackle is attempted ever so politely,
Shrugged off of course but it's the thought that matters,
Our age offered as an excuse while the cup is lifted by the older still Catters,

Everything typed up in here is better than our current team song, tbf.

The pathetic new club song is such a microcosm of what is going on in our club at a deeper level.

A really bad mistake is made and rather than just acknowledging this mistake and rectifying the mistake asap - the club covers for those who are EFFing up the club and doubles down on said mistake rather than bringing correction.
Problem for West Coast is we're too big to fail - this has the potential to breed a bad internal culture.

Whether it is our injury department, thinking that Gaffy belongs in the guts, our strength & conditioning, the hardness of the ground where we train (if true), our refusal to tackle and defend, the 'gameplan' or the utterly sh1t3 new club song - we a very slow to acknowledge and rectify mistakes, usually a sign of an organisation becoming a bit stale on the inside, a lack of hunger all round.

The club song is by far the worst of the mistakes - for a 'newish' club wanting to create their own history in the way that the Vic clubs have history - that club song was belted out in a familiar form for 4 premierships.
Even the style of the song was symbolic of the brashness of the 80s/early 90s when we were plucky enough to burst onto the scene and be disruptors to the powers that be. It was belted out over 4 premierships and it IS our history and more than that it was a part of our successes.

But no some d!ckhed at corporate wanted to create a legacy for themselves by changing something up - would love for someone to put their hand up and own up to it publicly. But also concerning that we had an entire organisation where noone had the guts to speak up and say "this new song is sh!*!"
