He is paid handsomely to pay AFL football. It's a no brainer for him cash wise to keep his career going for as long as possible, even sitting on the sidelines.

Not sure how "sticking fat" comes into it when he'd likely not get any offers at any other club. If you're referring to him not going back to Vic.. he legit spent his first 2 years of his career injured, ironically, so if anything he owed us by staying, and he's paid that back mind you.

I see Allen as our next captain but unluckily for him he's no chance for next season considering he didn't play a single game this year.
Seems like Barrass is the only one likely to be voted over Shuey as captain for 2023.
Shuey previously seemed unbothered about his capacity to captain the side despite his vulnerability to injuries, hopefully he is more realistic after this latest setback.

In all seriousness, I feel terrible for Boots but I don't think this is such a disaster in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think too many of us were hanging onto the hope that Shuey would play an uninterrupted season this year.

More opportunities for our young core to step up and play some midfield time, more opportunities for new leaders to emerge on the track. And maybe...just maybe...this is the catalyst for us to see Shuey play more time in the WAFL. Would be a huge lift for them, and you'd think facing another season in and out of the side he would be making the decision to relinquish the captaincy so as not to put pressure on him to be selected when he's unfit. We might even see him shifted to half forward? Who knows.

Could be wishful thinking, but I think the possibility for a few silver linings is there.

It's not a great sign given his history that he has any soft tissue leg injury, no matter how minor.

Worst case you'd think he misses a few weeks pre December break.

No biggie normally, that's minor for anyone else, but given it's Shuey and how often this is happening it's pretty damning.

Hardly melt worthy, if he's out it means Culley, Chesser, draftees get a look
