From the report makes it sounds like Yeo is playing midfield. And Hunt off half back. Jones might stay back there too? Didnt mention him though.
Pre-Christmas whenever they split into line groups Jones was with the forwards.

If they both joined the club in the same year, and Waterman's form has warranted 3x as many games as XON in that time, doesn't that prove the point that XON has been a significantly slower developer than Waterman and therefore deserves to be discussed before Waterman in any delisting debates or be more bagged on here for slow development than Waterman?
Waterman was drafted 2 years before XON. He's 24 almost 25 and should be a solid best 22 at this stage of his career. He plays as a 3rd or 4th tall which has far less competition than a midfielder.

XON is only 22. Its also been difficult for any young mids to get a game in recent years and that was proved after the Colllingwood game wher he was one of our best and was ommitted.

Paywalled article so I'm reacting to a headline but I still find this bloody annoying and frustrating.

Seriously when will we ever learn? Part of our problems post 2019 has been senior players taking too many liberties in pre-season. Did we really benefit last season by having Shuey go at half rat power to get through games?

I've had it up to here with "modified program", "light duties", "easing back into the season".

It's simple. Unless you've had surgery over the summer you'll be expected to do a FULL pre-season. If a player can't/won't then it's time they were tapped on the shoulder.
The queue to tell everyone you know more more the coaching staff at WC is below.

Good to read that Naitanui played some match sim time as well as the likes of Yeo, Sheed, Cole and McGovern

No mention of who didn’t play though
Reading that report it seems like a premiership is a given this year. Everyone is playing amazing!

Hopefully just The West hyperbole but I really hope we haven't blown this pick considering there were good, obvious options still on the board.

Club have repeatedly said they plan on taking a cautious approach with Chesser and will be easing him into full contact work to allow his body to adjust after missing so much football

Also that particular journalist is building quite the little pile of negative Nancy articles on WCE of late

I’ve not expected Chesser to be playing round 1 as they’ll more likely be bringing him through the WAFL

We should be happy they're being so cautious to be honest.

Took the same approach with Shuey in his first 3 seasons. paid dividends in the end.

“McGovern was out of shape last year” is going to be one of those things that’s just repeated over and over even though it’s demonstrably wrong, isn’t it.
Wasn't he close to our best player before he got injured and Barrass went beast mode?

Was leading our B&F when he got injured

And ponder this, had he been heavier would the additional padding saved him from broken ribs

There is a readable article on Chesser here. Likely the same as the other story

My expectations for Chesser this year are pretty low. Would be happy if he can get through a block of games in the wafl before we even begin to consider him for the afl side. Dude hasn’t played a competitive game in forever. He looks physically impressive but has had a year in the gym with not much else.
I just wanna see him play to see what his game is like

CONCERN FOR EAGLES' PRIZED 2021 DRAFT PICK

That “concern” is based on one article by one journalist so now SEN has picked it up we can wait for Fox or someone saying there’s concerns from multiple sources when they add their two cents inside the echo chamber

At least SEN mentioned Simpson’s comments that he, among others, was being managed to ensure he was right to go come February

Hmm, if he isn’t in high intensity training now, then I’ll put my hand up as a concerned party.

Are you seriously suggesting West Coast would lie about an injury? It only happened 11 months ago.

Might be just me, but I hate paying for The West (based in VIC) but need to, otherwise I’d read bugger all on the Eagles outside of the Eagles.
I get that not everyone can afford to pay for it, and maybe it’s just me, but think it’s cheeky for people to ask for those of us that pay for the worst paper in the world to post articles they are unwilling to pay for.
EP2018 I know you are not a recidivist in requesting articles.

Footnote: I woke on the wrong side of the bed this morning, plus have lost a few bets on the horses today (more seconds then a 60 Minutes!), so am turning my disappointment and anger towards others who don’t deserve it.

There is no indication that he isn't in high intensity training. The articles imply he isn't but it sounds like what they actually mean is that he's not in the contact drills yet. That doesn't mean he's not building fitness.

As others have said, the plan is probably to ease him into a few scratch matches and then start him in the WAFL.

Concerning but I expect they are taking a very conservative approach with him given he’s barely played any footy the past few years. No rush for him to play round 1 - would rather see him build into fitness, play WAFL and then string some consistent AFL games together.

Isnt this just common sense , rather than a crisis. I (sadly) rely on BF for eagles info and that says a lot about the media
