You reckon we'll ever get a pre-season where we're not all holding our breath for 4 months, praying nobody gets hurt before season proper?
I'd imagine it feels no different for the other 17 clubs. Harley Reid goes down and it's Titanic-levels of disaster for slathering slobbering slackjaw'd Weagles fans over in their murky grotto.

Just hope Moose and Lightning Bolton are ok [fingers, sloth toes and nautical bits crossed]

Aish returning to form would be a huge bonus. I know he slipped out of favour last year, but he's about as classy as you could ask for a player on the fringe of the 23.
Absolutely. If James Aish is your 23rd player you have your list in very nice shape.

Aish for me is perfect 16-22 player - multiple positions, decent skills without being fantastic, good accountability and fitness.

LOL

Lightning Bolton, I like that.

Should we start calling him McQueen? As in "Lightning Bolton McQueen"?

Too far? I'll see myself out.

It's absolute quality musicianship

You seem more of a Tina Turna fan
I read that as Tina Tuna lol

(Thanks to AI for generating only one leg?)

In the spirit of off-thread-ness I prefer Split Enz over Crowded House, not sure if that makes me a monster (Crowded House were brilliant in their own right).

In all seriousness, massive thanks to anyone who attends training sessions and reports back. Legends 👏

Just some brief comments.
Sharp dominated his wing and kicked a nice goal.
O’Driscoll attended centre bounces and showed dash out of the middle.
Erasmus kicked a nice long set shot.
Draper good evasive skills and good with hands.
Someone kicked a nice long set shot L foot. Reid?
Darcy is as trim as the photos indicate. Has a pronounced limp.
Apart from Serong ground ball brilliance the rest melded into an amorphous mass in my feeble brain.

Always wanted to post a thread about training so here we go! Went down with my 3 year old so the attention wasn’t always on what was happening.

1. Lots of guys sat out - Young, Bolton (but he was smashing it out on a bike), Walker, Sturt, Jackson, Narkle
2. Darcy back from Doha and doing a heap of work, not involved in the match sim though
3. Sonny and Fyfe working their way back, Fyfe came out toward the end of a session and spent a considerable amount of time kicking a tennis ball
4. JT building nicely - was easily the best forward in match sim. His follow up is so good and he spanked one from 50 out
5. Ras really was good today, worked his butt off, tidy disposal, kicked a great goal from 50 on the boundary. Was more influential than Bray and Serong imo
5. Pearce went off early, ankle iced up
6. Reidy is ready - if Darcy isn’t
7. I reckon Dudley gets a list spot - on his own merit. Has some real tricks
8. Sharpy is ready to go to the next level as a wingman. He is very good at that role.
9. Driz’s disposal is so bad, he would have been BOG today except he butchered so many. His pace is underrated though.
10. Murphy Reid will debut early in the season barring injury - he just doesn’t make mistakes, is clean and no joke, reminds me of Lachie Neale without the One Direction lookalike.

Surely this is Raz's year.

Feel's like JT's build up last year.
I watched about 2/3 's of the match sim so I missed some of the play but Raz was superb in what I saw. Really is moving well and his skills were terrific from what I saw. Ollie Murphy had a few tremendous moments at training today including a wonderful smother. Murphy Reid looked tremendous too. I'll write a full training report when I get a moment later today.

Thanks mate, cooped up in an office all day today so these reports keep me sane.

So would it be between Sturt coop and Reid for the last fwd line spot? And would the other 2 be the sub each week?

If training form is anything to go by Id have Reid in the 22 ahead of Mathew Johnson. Reid is quality with ball in hand. I simply want him in the team.
Exciting to hear Reid is showing some class and looking like a genuine prospect and equally concerning that Yourself and others think Johnson is slipping down the order. I've always rated Johnson very highly and expected him to take another big step forward this year, potentially take that remaining big body inside Mid role that Fyfe has occupied the last couple years. I'm curious as to what your observations are of Johnson this pre-season? Is it poor disposal? Lack of effort? Poor decision Making???

he's a great tactical sub

Smokey for the rising star?

I just reckon Johnson thinks he is stronger than he actually is. He is clearly being coached to take the tackle on and then release the handball, but he keeps taking the wrong tackle on from what I have seen both at training and within games the last year or so

He seemed to get better at it towards the end of the year though. Definitely started paying off and he’d get some really good looks i50.

He can certainly be frustrating when he gets caught or tries to to do too much, but I just think if he can continue to develop he offers another element to our Mid mix that really compliments the other 3. He's that bigger body, is very calm in traffic, and does have the ability to step through a tackle and open up teammates. I see elements of pendlebury style in him. Obviously at this stage it's all snippets and potential. Really glad to hear Ras is putting in a strong preseason too.

I’m with you, he has to keep developing that ability. For me it’s about ensuring he does it at the right time, not all the time
