O'Gorman was one of the umpires at match sim this morning and there is talk that he never paid a free kick to either the yellow or red team
hopefully they took him into the graeme richmond room and graeme richmond's ghost knocked some sense into him or bribed him with a brand new xy falcon

The Elimination final highlights were just on fox. * me we cocked that one up. Jacks goals in the last were great though. Hope he can still be a thret this year.
jack popped up at the most crucial time and kicked 2 ice cold goals from the same hard spot

and titch's last act as a tiger was a ferocious tackle that resulted in holding the ball

farc had other ideas though

Yeah. We just coughed up so many easy goals though. Missed tackles, loose men out the back, dropped marks etc etc.

Neale just walked it out of stoppage nearly every time.

One of those games where you just keep waiting for the flip to switch and it never does. Norf game last year I kept telling myself it's all good we only have to switch on for 10 minutes and we'll ice (cold) the game. Never happened. That game made me feel physically ill.

Reckon you could freeze it at the exact frame where you can see him realise he just officially ended his own career.

Grrimes is a worry with Gibcus out with a hammy.
Fingers crossed for Grimesy, the linchpin of our backline. We always look so much better organised deep back when he’s out there.

I’m hoping Young can push for senior selection . Has got some Grimes traits, with speed, athleticism size and ability to play on a variety of forwards.

Apparently did ok in recent match sim on Dusty. With an ounce of luck he could be Grimes long term replacement. Not writing him off, but nice to have someone that can come in and perform that role, albeit not at the same level as Grimes

Got Biggy too. Been in our system a while. A good debut. Wouldn't mind seeing if he can make it and give him every chance this year.. See if banks can play too. Gibcus in for Grimes made us a bit tall last year. Gibcus can run though. Was just behind kmac in the final for running distance covered.

If Blair Hartley and the coaching staff see Narkle as a potential asset to our list, who are we to question them. They are watching him throughout pre season and have a far far better handle on where he may sit. The guy can play, absolutely no doubt, but is he better than what we have? Only the coaching staff can make that assessment based on what they've seen.
I just don’t get the anti Narkle sentiment on here. If the club deem him worthy of an opportunity, them I’m all for it.
You’re definitely right in a lot of ways, but despite all of your good points, clubs do still make plenty of mistakes. It’s just a very hard science. This is also a place for discussion and opinion, right or wrong in the end.

Supporters watch a lot of footy and do get some things right hey…

I was keen on Narkle as backup but not as another flanker. If that’s the goal then we should be looking at someone else, like a guy who can find it 30 times a week at VFL level. Yes we got Taranto and Hopper but Prestia remains a shaky prospect, and even Hopper’s body has its question marks. I fear our engine room will still be found wanting at times this year… I’d love to find more guys who can play inside and get 30+ if we can.

Have read that we want to go with a more settled backline after being scored heavily against at times last year. But the reality is Grimes and Vlastuin won’t play 23 games, during the year. Biggie, Young and others will get their opportunity, if they show enough at VFL level

Narkle's AFL highlight was 19 disposals in 2022. In 2021 34 times.
At punt road that's leather poisoning.

Match Committee love to play new players. Matty Parker got a good run. If we select QN, he'll be first cab off the rank

Prestia question marks are answered by TT & JH. Our achilles, clearances has been addressed by TT & JH. We already got Cotch squeezed out of starting mid. Fwd line with Dusty and Rotating with Bolton who could easily play more mid time. Already got Ross, Graham & Sonz sub. Sonz is a great player. He's ready I don't want a QN taking games off him.

We go through 37 players a season usually. I want to see Gibcus replace Tarrant. & Biggy, Ross, Hugo, Banks, Clarke, Green, Ryan, Young, Bauer. & Dow.
How many 6 footers do we need? We just drafted Campbell et al

Prestia & Grimes serious injury won't make or break our season. If Lynch is inured maybe take KPF mid season.

Round 1
B - Vlastuin, Tarrant, Grimes
HB - Short, Balta, Rioli
C - KMac, Hopper, Pickett
HF - Martin, Riewoldt, Bolton
F - Baker, Lynch, Cumberland
Foll - Nankervis, Taranto, Prestia
Inter - Cotchin, Rioli Jnr, Miller, Broad
Sub - Graham/Sonsie/Ross

Richmond Jason Castagna will be desperately hoping his hamstring injury doesn’t hamper his round 1 selection chances as he attempts to re-establish himself as a premier small forward in a contract year.

Free agent Castagna suffered hamstring damage in Richmond’s match simulation hitout on Saturday but the club will only know the extent of the injury by Monday.

After playing at least 21 games in all five seasons from 2017-2021, the three-time premiership player fell out of favour after a lean start to the 2022 season.

The busy pressuring forward was dropped after only 10 goals to round 11 and while he returned in round 16 he kicked only two goals in his final five games of the season across two separate stints.

Castagna, 26, is yet to enter contract talks with Richmond despite his free agency status but a player who kicked 26.20 and 27.28 in premiership seasons would have value when at the peak of his game.

At Richmond this year Maurice Rioli, Noah Cumberland and Judson Clark will all be vying for that small forward role alongside stars Dustin Martin and Shai Bolton.

Martin and Bolton were in sparkling form in Saturday’s clash in a intraclub in which Jack Riewoldt kicked four goals, Clark three and last year’s mid-season selection Jacob Bauer kicked two goals as a 192cm forward.

Triple premiership captain Trent Cotchin will also spend some time forward this year in a midfield that seems stacked for options.

It means Castagna will need to be at the top of his game to play the kind of onfield role that maximises his contract worth.

Richmond will conduct another more intense match simulation hitout next week ahead of an official match simulation against North Melbourne on February 24 and an official practice match against Melbourne on March 4.

Star pair Tom Lynch (plantar fascia) and Jack Graham (turf toe) are still on track to play some minutes in those clashes.

Fellow Richmond free agent Nathan Broad was rested for Saturday’s match simulation but will be fit for those clashes.

That was the one thing we should have been able to limit to some degree , even if we nullified 3-4 clearances from neale that changes course of game we lost by 2p , I can’t have it that we couldn’t do a flipping thing about it ,,,anyways fk it let’s move on

Nanks tap work was atrocious too.

Agreed if narkle was a sec stringer inside ball winner then yes for me , he’s not so I question his value . I stop short of making a call on this as I know fa of kb , happy to go with flow
