The issue with Dow is who's spot does he take in the midfield? He can't play any position other than inside mid and he's not going to take Tarantos spot and I cant see him overtaking Hopper or Prestia unless they get injured.
Prestia will get injured. Guaranteed.

Yes he's an inside mid, but not one of them offers the point of difference that he does, Pace and agility. he is a must if hes playing well.

You need more than 3 mids in onfield 18 and 22. That being said, because of his speed I'd be starting home ahead of everyone except taranto.

Starting: Nank, Taranto, Dow, Hopper.
Rotating: Ruck 2, Prestia, Bolton, McAuliffe.

3 inside mids I said. Plus Baker, plus Dusty/Bolton.

On balance Sonsie and Mcauliffe are better placed to be next in line as they have other strengths that we need moreso than another inside mid.

Most of those players you have named will either play more in other positions, or can rotate out of the mid without hurting us at all.

The thing I like about Dow and McAuliffe is they are both run and carry mids, who break the lines. Which also makes them somewhat outside mids who can win their own ball.

If there are question marks at this stage, for mine it would be on Prestia and Hoppers speed and versatility - are they damaging enough when not playing inside? Doesn't mean there isn't space for them though.

Dow is not a 'run and carry' mid. Far from it.

With Hopper and Prestia's injury history we'll probably only have one of them up for selection at many stages..

Prestia, time to move on from the premiership heroes and focus on the next generation.

Hoping Hoppers body can somehow regenerate, otherwise it’s going to be a frustrating 7 seasons.

Dow will definitely get his opportunity , but not sure you can play all of Taranto, Prestia, Hopper and Dow . Throw Sonsie into the midfield mix too, who offers something a little different to those 4. If he gets his head in the right space can be best 22

Disagree. He is a breaker out of the middle with the ball in hand and leg speed.
Nup. He's an extractor who can step through congestion with his agility and feed the ball to the outside.

He is not a run and carry type player.

Yeah perhaps, but he's only 31. Deserves first crack, but he'd want to improve on last year. I suspect he will with a half decent midfield setup.

Prestia endured knee tendonitis flare ups last season if I recall hence his performance and output was down.

and force Taranto into the forward line, the reason why he left gws?
Dow can play with TT in the middle.

Hopper, TT, Shai
Dusty, Dow, TT
Baker, TT, Dow
Prestia, TT, Shai
Prestia, Dusty, Dow,

All those combos work

just edited, I haven't run all combos, but it can work. I wouldn't play Prestia TT Hopper in the middle together, but Dow gives us options with his point of difference

He and Shai are the only fleet of foot out of congestion options at the moment.
