A number of players are doing the same thing. Heard on the radio that Bont only played part of the game but was then out doing running drills
Makes sense with the Bont, save him for the real stuff. Caldwell isn't quite at the same level yet.

Very true, but these days players are on all sorts of different training programs. Maybe the club thinks Caldwell needs to be held back a little in early season (pre-season) games because that's when he's vulnerable to soft tissue injuries.

You don't know unless you're inside the club.

I'll be very interested in his game time next ps game. If they are going to play him Rd1 then he needs almost a full game. If that happens we'll get a better idea of his potential.

Treloar playing the Josh Kelly role. Wing and half forward and runs into contest. Plays on-ball, but doesn't get CBA's. The role I've always wanted him to play. Unfortunately at the Pies he couldn't do it because aside from Adams, he was our only ball winner. Now he has ball winners around him, and he just needs to run. My boy is back! 22 games and a 110 avg coming up!

I’m struggling to pick Caldwell, tog aside.

Some pretty reasonable points have been made on the club taking a pretty conservative approach with him, and it’s not as though the Bombers don’t already have a stack of capable inside leading mids.

So much so they’ll trialling both Merrett and McGrath in that Caleb Daniel role behind the stoppages.

Shiel looked like he was running well though. Made his usual few wtf mistakes, but nice to see his agility returning. Has to be a consideration at $360k.

Injuries aside, Merrett is unlikely to be used at HB during the season proper but I think McGrath will spend a reasonable chunk in that spot. McGrath isn't as calm in the contest as is required for a top mid but can be a top quality HB with a bit more space around him.
Shiel can only be a watch and see imo. He's priced low for his scoring capabilities but there are so many other options in the midfield for SC this season, both premo and rookie

Kemp is talented but not liking this role for his SuperCoach scoring. Boyd has been poor.
Hewett a very interesting proposition as a pure inside mid.
