For me, Ezy is too far down the pecking order to be anything but depth in 2017.

Our 2014 defence operated far differently to our current defence. Our current defence relies on everyone being clean by foot and the fact is Ezy is not up to standard. It's not like at 28 he can work on it, either.

We already have Wellingham back there who butchers the pill frequently enough.

Maybe they want EMac to be able to play as third tall as well as FB. Perhaps they are backing his experience in the contest to overcome his lack of size. That way we can play any three man combo from Gov/Schoey/EMac/Barrass.

The problem with that statement is that Emac got out bodied and pushed off the ball with relative ease by players a foot shorter than himself on multiple occasions last season.

His ability in the contest is directly in proportion to his mass it seems.

The upside with wellingham is that the risky kicks on many occasions when they do hit the target create strong attacking opportunities whereas the Emac mostly kicks sideways

That's a good point.

Maybe his knee is a bit better now though, hopefully improving his strength.

Big difference between Glass "wasn't a monster" and the condition Emac is in IMO...

dont believe Emac's in the same condition as that. He would have likely put on a tad more muscle ( especially in the lower body). As long as emac has is strong through the hips and legs, i don't really care about his arm. Like i stated many times above, key position players strength comes from those areas. Look at guys like Harry Taylor, dustin fletcher.

Glass was also much shorter than easy, that extra little bit of muscle probably equates to easy's height and reach.

Fletcher had long limbs and great speed to go with 197cm height. Often got outbodied but due to limbs managed to get a fist to the ball as he was about to be pushed out of the contest.

Harry Taylor looks bigger than Emac, especially through the legs.

Emac looks drained. Steven May conversely who is around 191cm plays full back due to his mass.

Glass was always physically strong, ask Barry Hall yet his strength was compunded by his upper body mass.

You need to have the leg, core and upper body mass work in equal measure as a key back, ask Zac Dawson.

got agree that looks Fuarked but we just have to wait till he Plays TBH. There were moments last year where he physically looked against big forwards but also got out positioned by a few smaller players. It could be confidence or it could be some else.

i think taylor is a similair size.. yes upper body mass does count but no where near as legs and core. Its evident by a lot of the wiery type KPP's coming through (eg Moore, daniher)

Why not just play well in the Pre-season cup games? If he has an awesome display there surely he gets a gig round 1.
I think it depends. Its about the team balance. For me we can't play all 4 of sheed. prid, mitch and redden. Mitch and redden though kinda make up for the lack of speed with their ball use and quick thinking under pressure. I think redden could still come in later if our contested ball and clearance numbers are not up to scratch. At this stage i would take 20 possessions of sheed over reddens 30 in the side.

I am supremely confident that Daniher will be a monster by age 28. Confiedent that Moore will be too. You are comparing boys to men and the man-child is still a rarity.

swooshacummings I should really open the attachment before commenting. lol

These guys are 200cm tall..

Defenders are normally the initiators of the stand your ground and scruff body on body generally so as to allow a third party to kill the contest whereas guys like Moore and Daniher would mostly prefer to run and jump at the ball or take it out on the lead...

This is why it is much more pertinent that a key back like Eric put on the mass equally

A lot of the better sides are running out with 2-3 tall forwards, not just one or two with some mediums and talls. GWS, Crows, Melb(will be a better team) to name a quick few.
Maybe a sign of a change so having 3+ tall defenders to call on when needed isn't a bad thing, also competition for spots will build determination and consistency.

Glass was freakishly strong, one bloke Barry couldn't push off, Glass regularly beat him in the wrestles, despite Barry having a few KGs on him.

"No more than 7 talls ever" needs to be written in stone and hung on the match committee room wall

Gov and Barrass are locks down back plus one of Schofield or Mackenzie

JK and Darling up forward plus either Petrie or Vardy as 2nd ruck

Giles to be the leading ruck

When Slyce returns he takes the 2nd ruck role until he gets match fit then giles goes out and one of Petrie or Vardy comes back in to be replaced by Naitanui when he's fit
