So many positives about McGuane.

The kid looks like he can play. He’s ours to have (assuming we don’t stuff up the picks). And the fact that we’ll again draft a talented father/son will see a few haters burst with indignation. Poor things.

Can't wait for the melts over another f/s 🥰

Personally I can't understand why anyone would want to ruin a game of footy by reading the game day threads.
I read them AFTER the game and have a little chuckle.

Yeah, I'm not saying you or the other training reporters are saying he is number one. The prior poster was asking whether he should be in contention for number one, and I just thought that was a stretch based on nothing other than training reports. No one is getting to number 1 on just training alone, they need to put in a huge body of work through the underage season.

I think I worded it poorly in my post.
Even then, moves like Jagger didn't go 1 because there were blokes with more exciting physical attributes.

Curtis Taylor has stood out to me… i see a lot of potential in him at only 24, could see him in our forward line for years to come.

I wonder if we have locked him in as a MSD option? I don’t think we have an open list spot currently so I’m not sure how that would happen. Hopefully he goes well in the VFL.
No, we don't have a list spot, someone would need to get a LT1 for that to happen
Unless he goes undrafted and waits til the end of the year

My personal guess has always been:

Starting 6 of McStay, Checkers, Membrey, Schultz, Hill, Elliott

That 6 evolves within game. I expect McStay and Checkers will play higher up quite often to provide get out kicks alongside the Rucks.

But let's be real, it's us. Injuries will come

We tend to go with 5 blokes playing as forwards and one bloke pushing up to the front of the pack as a quasi mid after the 6 6 6.

For Membrey to fit, I think Elliott would need a role change to doing that rather than playing as a deep forward. Don't know about that.

Thank you.
Your comment clearly meant that it's drawing a long bow to say he's AFL ready now.
He's obviously talented and has a good footy brain, but he has a full year of footy before he's drafted.
An exciting prospect, though - imagine Nick and Tom creating chaos for the next 10+ years!

I can't figure out why he wasn't picked up by someone as a rookie.
We didn't have a list spot, which was probably the issue for most teams.
I hope we hold on to him somehow - he's far too good for the VFL.
