Yeah they are now playing in the same position. Ed now playiing more on the inside, same as Perryman. I think they're trying to add a forward role into his role as well so that he has another position to get him into the rotation. Its clear he is more of a mid not a winger. He is someone that needs to be around the ball.

In VFL looked miles better in the Midfield

Last year was a little crazy, we were playing Sullivan and Long in the midfield with Bytel on the wing. We also had WHE as our full forward for large patches and we almost made the 8.
Our midfield is fairly large but also thin for talant outside the first 6-7
N Daicos, DeGoey, Mitchell, Pendlebury, Perryman, Allan, Sidebottom, Sullivan, Long and Macrae.
My preference is that the last 3 don't get a game because the top 6 stay mostly injury free. If we can do that we are a top 4 side.

Sullivan and Long in the midfield gives me Tony Shaw years shudders. Wild and Patterson in the midfield for a bit there.

We also missed Pendlebury for a large period with that bicep injury.
We didn't have Perryman. We didn't try Allan in the midfield soon enough because we were testing Long and Sullivan. And finally we didn't put an extremely effective Sidebottom in the midfield until late in the year. We just had a few to many injuries and also made a few missplays that cost us a finals birth.
Pendles was the breaking point - clearly wasn't fit when he returned either. Pendles, Nick and Crisp actually went on a tear when JDG and Titch were injured. Then the ****ing Freo game where Pendles did his arm and we snatched a drew from certain victory with the Dockers getting an armchair ride from the umps.

I also don't think the coaches had a great year. Did well when we got a heap of injuries, but whatever we adjusted to start the year just didn't work, we were just letting teams waltz through the middle uncontested - three games dropped. Then there was the weird bit where we dropped 4 in a row because we just didn't defend the ground and just gradually pulled back allowing teams to chip kick all the way into forward 50 without taking any risk at all.

Yep, 2024 was a lost year, best forgotten - except for lessons learnt and all that.

Just horrible. A wasted year.

Those few who have identified the pace issue now that Noble has gone are correct. Pace and dare were his great attributes, supplemented by great courage given his lack of physical strength. McInnes may be able to supply some of these: I don't know if his pace and endurance are actually at Noble's levels. He is an obvious upgrade overhead. If he can also supply some of what Murphy gave us, then there is probably a place on the backline for him.
No two players are identical. McInnes will not be one of the players we have lost. I expect he will be trying to use what he has in his own unique way. There is not much we can say until we get a view of what that might be.
As an aside, I believe that Gold Coast will get far more from Noble than they will from Rioli. The trade values of those two were heavily skewed.
Can’t agree re Noble - a fit and firing Markov had pace and more compared to Noble as evidenced by his inclusion in the GF.

The ump made a horrible call for sure with a few minutes to go. But Schultz also missed a certainty from the goalsquare with a couple to go that would have locked in the win also.

Markov was picked over Noble three times (the finals in 2023). Noble was picked over Markov loads more time before in 2023, and almost every time last year. To say Markov is better than Noble is a real long bow.

They both played 23 games in ‘23…. Just saying.
How many games have they both played since Noble debuted in 2018? And how many times have they respectively been delisted?
