I don't live in Melbourne and I work full-time so it would be doubly hard for me to make it to training unfortunately.

Anyways I said I was amazed that he seems to be that good.

Nobody has said he’s better than our afl players — nothing wrong with acknowledging his afl traits and skills at his age . He’ll be a great player. It’s been nice to see on display against afl players where he has fit in very well. This is what you want to see of a potential FS

I think anyone that has seen him play for the jets can see he is good. Class is what you think when you watch him. Lots of development to go through too

A couple preseasons he will add to his size

No, there's nothing wrong with acknowledging it, I agree. I think the other people that have responded to me are a little confused by what my comment conveyed. Appreciate your insights.

99% of us are thankful for all your updates Jen, especially those interstate like myself. I wouldn’t worry about that poster.

Have you just decided to place me on ignore and can't see my comments? I literally detailed what I mean by my comment and said I was appreciative of the training reports. Grow up and stop with sly clips.

It’s obviously a small sample but think we should be encouraged by what he has displayed so far. Looking forward to watching his season this year and him joining us.

Well then, rather than make a silly comment based on nothing, trust the track watchers.

I'm constantly finding myself amazed by training reports that indicate Thomas McGuane is that much more talented, skilled and hardworking at training than our actual AFL listed players. Kid seems to be head and shoulders above everyone bar Naicos at the moment.
I’m not sure any training report has said this, and if they have I’d appreciate you directing me to said reports.

As far as I can tell he’s being judged on what he is, a 17 year old who’s looking likely to be drafted in the first round, and nothing more.

Unfortunately I can't direct you it seems - the comments along those lines came from the Instagram pages of Swoop Luke and Pies Footy and those stories disappear after 24 hours. My impression from the collective of reports is that McGuane seems ready to go like right now. It's a shame that we have to wait until the end of this year to draft him.

Here's Swoop's post about McGuane :

And pies footy talks about Tom (10.40 on the video)

Hmm, not saying you’re embellishing here but it’s rather convenient that those supposed reports have now disappeared.

As far as I can see, all reports have Tommy looking like a very promising prospect who probably needs another 12 months of growth/building his body in order to genuinely be ready for AFL footy. He’s good, but he’s certainly no Nick, who was 100% ready to go in his draft year.

Hey fair enough

I’ve seen a few ‘he doesn’t look out of place’ type comments.

Who’s saying he’s already more talented, skilled and harder working than all of our AFL players?

I don't really understand what the personal attack is about. I'm pointing out that from all reports (from everyone), McGuane seems to be performing above and beyond even AFL listed players at age 17, so I wonder why he hasn't entered potential pick 1 calculations?
I think he is possibly being slightly overrated in training reports (not that I've seen him at training yet). He is probably doing well, but to leap to number 1 range I think is very much a stretch.

Nobody has ever suggested he'll be that high. Just commenting that he looks to be fitting in well with the afl boys and he has real afl traits which have been on display. He could very well jump into the top 10 with a good year though.

You think he is possibly being slightly overrated in training reports, without seen him train. WTF. More holes in your comments than a block of Swiss cheese .

Yeah, I'm not saying you or the other training reporters are saying he is number one. The prior poster was asking whether he should be in contention for number one, and I just thought that was a stretch based on nothing other than training reports. No one is getting to number 1 on just training alone, they need to put in a huge body of work through the underage season.

I think I worded it poorly in my post.

McGuane looks like he has put on some size since the vision of him playing for Keilor mid year

Definitely has. I ran into him late last year and he mentioned he had been using the gym at his school to add on more size.
Hopefully adds to that through the year.
