ummm replace "executed" with expelled...... better use of wording.

Its sort of like someone wishing you were dead..... unecessary & well a host of other unsavoury reasons that you should hopefully be able to understand.

Maybe a bit of an over-reaction. Dont worry though, they will both be gone very soon.

Both are great blokes off the field, it's just a pity there talant on it is lacking.

Not exactly sure what the purpose of this thread is though.

agreed. Maybe hes bored with the lack of movement on the carlton board over the last week. Probably due to the fact we have a week off. Dont worry people, it will pick up again soon when we beat the kangas on friday night!

we won't loose as many as last year not by a mile Livo & Prender great players
their our future

Think you'll find there will be about 7-8 changes to our list for next year. They would be:

1. Davies
2. Chambers
3. Longmuir
4. Teague
5. Livingston
6. Prendergast
7. Sporn
8. Bannister

Kouta will probably retire as well.

Certainties to go will be:

Davies
Chambers
Longmuir
Sporn
Prendergast
Koutoufides (retire)

Teague and DeLuca are both under contract for 2007, so unlikely they get delisted and paid out.

I think the likes of Bannister, McGrath, Livingston, Bryan and the two rookies in Smith and Batson are playing for their careers during the second half of the season.

The form of Flint and Jackson during the remainder of the season will also play a part in determining the futures of some of the others mentioned above as well.

Livingston *Luke 04/11/82 184cm 97kg Is not up to AFL standard has had many chances and should never play for Carlton again
Prendergast *Ian 02/09/80 192cm 98kg Is not up to AFL standard good VFL player
Chambers *Callum 19/11/79 184cm 78kg Is not up to AFL standard
Sporn *Trent 23/09/82 187 85 Is not up to AFL standard
Davies *Justin 07/07/83 184 80 Is not up to AFL standard
Bannister *Jordan 31/10/82 190cm 88kg Is not up to AFL standard great VFL player
Deluca *Adrian 15/05/82 202cm 99kg Is not up to AFL standard great VFL player
Saddington *Jason 23/10/79 194 93 not what we are looking for
Longmuir *Troy 27/05/79 184 81 he is not up to it as well, good VFL player

Houlihan *Ryan21/01/82 187 84 hoping we can trade him to a club that needs him

Koutoufides *Anthony 18/01/73 191 98 He is a great player and has been one of the best and I hope he will come out and play the last games of the year as we know he can then retire before the last game so we can say goodbye the right way

As this draft is a very good one we need to get the right team balance and players that we can turn in to top players
Anyone that has been watching the TAC Cup and APS can see the standard is very good

As well as all the interstate players that are coming through I’m sure this will be the best draft as in depth for a long time

Agree with most of what you have said.
Davies will probably go because his injury won't give him a chance to prove himself before year end. Prenderghast is just uncoordinated and we have an upcoming Irish man who can be a big mobile guy and has more upside
potential.

I really think Livo is getting a bad rap. He a big bodied stopper...and as that he is not to bad. Maybe there is no room for that type of player anymore, but I think he is quite good at what he does. Personally think our team plays much better with him in the side (e.g. last week and Wizard cup) as Thornton can play his more natural position. Give him the rest of the season. He's been in and out with injury and his last demotion wasn't deserved. I think if he can get some confidence, his size and strength could still be an asset, at least for this year and maybe next. Look at how Wiggins has come along, and he hasn't had such tough assignments as given to Livo. Give the guy a chance to get used to his role at AFL level. He deserves a role while Hartlett (as yet unproven) or whovever else can play fullback comes through. I suppose the same can be said for Prenderghast, but given he is a mobile tall rather than a last line backman his absolute lack of skill is almost insurmountable problem.

Still a bit on the fence with Livingston.
He was pick 4 (after Riewoldt, Koschitske, and Didak),
in a draft year 2000 that bar those 3 wasn't the greatest.

But as a top round draft pick,
he has been disappointing after such a promising first season 2002,
with injuries and form. Give him the rest of the season.

Prendergast,
no.
At best back-up.
Back-up what, i do not know.

Good assessment. I concur. There has to be hard decisions made, and assessments as to who is up to AFL standard, and who is not, or who is not likely to make it, and heads (players) should roll. I'm sick of the Football Department for recruiting recycled fringe players from other clubs, and also for hanging on to players (recruits that have been given plenty of chances) and that are clearly not up to it. We have to rely on youth and not recycled has beens for our future and a lot will rely on the Recruiting Dept at this year's Draft to pick the right combination of players we urgently need.

I've always felt Prendergast has been played badly. He's very hard at the ball, traps the ball in his area, and makes contests. I'd reckon he'd be good in a role like Hamill or Hickmott played when they were at the club, as the third forward who crashed packs, protected the key guys and played a defensive role in the forward 50, putting pressure on opposition defenders and stopping their run out of the back line. Instead, he's been used as either a midfielder/back flanker or a ruckman. He's a bad midfielder because he has relatively poor disposal (compared to other midfielders), and doesn't find the ball instinctively and create space. He's a bad ruckman cos he doesn't have the height, timing, strength or ability to read the play. He's also filled gaps in defence, but hasn't really thrived in that role. I'd give him a shot later this year - on effort and character alone he's earn't that right - but play him as a forward, try him in a new role and see what happens. Especially with Fisher and Waite out - what have we got to lose? I can't help but get the feeling that if we don't give him that chance, then we'll delist him at the end of the year, and someone else will try him in that role (again, based on character), and he'll thrive. Just a feeling I have...

Livingstone just doesn't have it. He's simply a very good second-rate player; does everything all right, but isn't good enough at anything to make it at AFL level. He's just not quite quick enough, or strong enough, or tall enough, or a good enough reader of the play; so pretty much any key forward can exploit him in some way (ie, Hall outmuscles him, but Livingstone isn't quick enough to use pace to get around that. Then Russell Robertson is too quick, but Livingstone doesn't read the play well enough to counter). A change of scenery, and some added confidence might help him, I dunno, but I can't see him doing well at Carlton.

Davies is the only one I reckon will remain on the list is a great young player played junior footy against him his body just needs a bit more maturing which will be a couple years of. Could become a dangerous small forward next to Fevola
