Preparing to buy a PS3

alright guys, i have been thinking about getting a console for a while and all the GTA IV hype has pushed me over the edge. after a bit of mucking around on the net i have decided to go with the $750 ps3/gta bundle.

i am not that great with a lot of the tech stuff and in an effort to not f#ck up or get ripped off, can you guys please tell me what (if anything) i NEED to buy so that it is ready to go, so i can play on line etc?

am hoping that i only have to shell out the extra $90 for singstar, which will be bought and given to the girlfriend to distract her from the i have just spent over $800 and will be missing for the next week, but would be keen to know when i walk into the store.

You will need to buy a headset if you want to play online and not be shunned by others.

I hope you intend on replacing your DVD collection with blurays, otherwise you are getting ripped off already.

You'll be able to play online from what you get in the box.

PS3 is money well spent even if you don't ever buy any blu-ray movies. It'll be supported games wise for at least the next 10 years.

Moreover, there's no online subscription fee, so you just set up an id and you're away.

$750 is good value for the best game out ATM, one of the cheapest and best Blu-Ray players and the PS3 gaming system in itself.

Why would he have to replace his DVDs?

The PS3 upscales all DVDs to HD, if he wants to view the best quality in Movies then he just needs to rent or buy Blu-Ray.

I have, it's not very hard, I'll admit it makes it easier, but alot of the time I rather not talk to people, especially if they are the usual loud-mouthed Yanks, I'll usually only talk if they are my friends.

Everything you'll need will be ready to go right out of the box, if you are using a HDTV though you'll have to grab a HDMI cable (pick one up cheap online) because only composite cables are included in the box.
