It's hard to tell but I didn't manage to watch the whole thing. I thought it looked similar. Maybe a bit more dare but hard to tell when B22 players are split between the two.It looked like last week the vibe in here was quite negative with it looking like our gameplan was not improved from last season. Following the intraclub did it look any better? or is it still doom and gloom this year?

Who were the main drivers off half-back later in the game for White?Depends on if you support purple or white.
Purple was slow sidewise chips around D50 then long bomb to congested wing (ie like last year).
White seemed much more willing to take the game on playing on faster and utilising the corridor more. It helped that they were winning clearances, but even after a turnover they seemed more willing to play faster than purple were.
I think the AFL has a pretty wide broadcasting/streaming rights. They're the most likely ones who'll rain on this parade. They may not like it but it is training occurring at an open public venue at a publicly accessible oval, which is publicly funded.
Even if they tried, I don't think they have a leg to stand on.
In saying that, I'll let you know how it goes.
Surely between us we can arrange a safe house for Vidwhal?I think the AFL has a pretty wide broadcasting/streaming rights. They're the most likely ones who'll rain on this parade.

Thinking further on this, I want the team to move it faster out of the backline BUT if we actually become a dominant clearance / midfield team and win that way while having our defence be extremely strong and making sure they dont come under pressure be being a bit safer compared to other teams, that's ok.The team that won the clearances kicked all the goals. There was very few goals generated out of the back line. Slow and methodical movement.
Maybe people could claim because it was a scratch match it’s a bit hard to move quickly as the players know the gameplan too well.
But yeah it could be a long year based on that. Plenty of press conferences where jlo talks about the contest and how we need to work harder.
Hahaha. Nah, just need a comfy chair with armrests.Christ were your arms tired by the end?
I'll just correct him on that info then hehheh. And also ask for that selfie. I've always got a box or two in the boot.Well remember when Peter Bell knocked on a poster's windows because he thought they were from the an opposition team? That was at a match sim last year. It's businesses as usual until they say something.
not a bad thought. But that kind of self assessment seems to be lacking from the current brass.Just a thought but maybe the two teams had different game plans. One to move the ball quickly and the other to be a bit more slow and methodical.

Vidwhal owns the copyright in the videos he films. They could try to ban him filming at that location but would need a legal basis for it, or they could simply ask: 'as a Freo Dockers supporter, could you please not provide our competitors with complete videos of training sessions where we go through key ball movement strategies for the coming season starting in only a few weeks as it potentially allows them to counter those strategies when planning for their games against us. Pretty please.'I think the AFL has a pretty wide broadcasting/streaming rights. They're the most likely ones who'll rain on this parade.

There have been multiple methods that are successful over the last 5 years. It will be still be all on the coaches if they cant pull off the method they think will bring success though
The way I've analysed it, I kinda see the result as if we're on song, we'll have the tools, gameplan, style to produce a 16.12.108 type win and when the opposition has our number, we'll produce closer to the 7.7.49 results in a loss, which isn't far off the numbers from last year.It looked like last week the vibe in here was quite negative with it looking like our gameplan was not improved from last season. It’s really hard to know how good our defense is. They almost never are put in a 1:1 due to the way we play.
If we have a strong defence we should be willing to throw the ball out chaos ball style knowing we have quality in the d50. But we don’t do that. We move it slowly and methodically.
I don't think it's one or the other, you need both. If you are getting beaten in the midfield than a strong rebounding game plan can negate the opposition's midfield dominance and vice versa. If you have superiority in both than you can pretty much beat anyone. That's why JLo's obsession with the "contest" worries me.Thinking further on this, I want the team to move it faster out of the backline BUT if we actually become a dominant clearance / midfield team and win that way while having our defence be extremely strong and making sure they dont come under pressure be being a bit safer compared to other teams, that's ok.
It's all fun and games until you hear the cow bell ringing in the middle of the night.Surely between us we can arrange a safe house for Vidwhal?
Sure but teams can lean towards one or the other, it’s not like we NEVER go fast. I said earlier but my main bugbears aren’t necessarily the chipping it’s never getting it inside and half the time, if we do get in the middle we go back to the flank then long down the line anyway. Also, we just don’t execute the fast break as well as others. It’s often just one to many handpasses or go we backwards too much. I think that’s a coaching issue as much as it’s a personnel issue (lack of experience and elite decision makers to pull it off).I don't think it's one or the other, you need both. I think there were games last year against maybe Brisbane and pies we tried go fast. But problem our skills and turnovers cut us up on the rebound.Sure but teams can lean towards one or the other, it’s not like we NEVER go fast. We don’t need to play on at all costs like Collingwood and Richmond of old but if they want to go down the route they seem to be going down we need to make sure we have the personnel and structure for it, that’s still a coaching issue
Yeah, I really think while speed is nice, it’s the decision making and experience that makes the biggest difference in pulling it off. Naicos is actual freak in this regard.I think there were games last year against maybe Brisbane and pies we tried go fast. But problem our skills and turnovers cut us up on the rebound.
Yeah. Agree we don't have personnel across the ground with great decision making to pull it off like the pies without coughing it up. But there is certainly opportunity in games last year where they could of put speed on the ball but reluctant. Hopefully that will be the difference this year and create more opportunitiesYeah, I really think while speed is nice, it’s the decision making and experience that makes the biggest difference in pulling it off. I’m not sure we have that yet, of course, there is the argument the more you actually do it, the better off they’ll be at decision making
