Keen to know
How many times we activated the sub last year
Of those, how many due to injury
Of those, how many were we left exposed due to the sub not being suitable to cover like for like
I feel it's all good and well saying who our preferred is, but like what Tyson said, everyone's got a plan until you get punched in the mouth

I don’t have the injury stats, but due to the change to tactical sub we activated it 100% of the time.
Here’s the list of players who came on as subs.

Ther's been a bit of sub chat lately so I'll bump a thread dedicated to this issue. There's more jokes - worth revsiiting - than insights but it is still worth a look.
I don't mind this from stoppage, but if we don't move the ball at speed on turnover JL will get sacked this year.
We looked decent in the last 6 game cause we took it on.
We may lose by 30 but also may win too. Need to stop this country boy conservatism in the coaches box.

Yes the Goldfield highlights. I was more interested in the difference in skill between Collingwood and Freo, and there is a world of difference.
I can understand it. If the midfield and forward line improve their consistency in games then the backline will move the ball. Up until now the midfield and forward line is a crap shoot from quarter to quarter and game to game.
It was Jlo who was coaching those last 6 games you know.. and he is on record for saying they were much happier with that last handful of games (obviously)
It's one of my greatest concerns with JL. He very rarely sounds decisive/sure of himself when speaking about the game plan or player selection, and often talks a lot about 'balance' and how the game throws up different situations etc. That may be true, but imo footy is a pretty simple game and players generally respond well to simple messages and playing on instinct.
I reckon we're one of the most 'over-coached' units in the league, which is why everything often looks difficult (and why we seem to panic when we somehow do get a bit of free-flowing play)

AFL locks in dates, clarifies rules for pre-season SSP
The pre-season supplemental selection period will run from November 27 to February 19

Deadline is Monday but Collingwood just announced the first three SPP signings since about a week after the period started (Sharp and one or two others were signed straight away).
I’d be surprised if the players don’t know by tomorrow tbh.
When in the next four days the club actually announces anything is anyone’s guess though. An early match sim tomorrow followed by an announcement in the afternoon would be my guess though.

Yep,
Decision, contract, signing and announcement are all separate things. We're probably at stage 2 or 3 by now.
Coming from Luke ‘Bomb’ Ryan.
Would love to have Young and Wagner with the ball. The team played so much better with Wagner wanting to run and carry down the corridor
Had this problem with Lyon too. Gave too much initiative to the assistants in the end. Just let Jl coach, and everyone else just listen

It was pretty funny, whenever we won the ball, Ryan just jogged off to a deep pocket and his tagger followed him, meaning there was one less player in the Hawks zone to try to get through.

I wouldn’t have a problem with his long bombs if he’s taking those intercept marks on our defensive 50m line and bombing it straight over the congestion to our half forward line to a 1:1. The fact Aish was taking the kick ins makes me think he’s potentially playing the deep sweeper/goalkeeper role and Ryan may move into the Young interception HB role.
