Can’t win all the time
I’m not sure you can say someone isn’t good on the inside because he gets a lot of ball on the outside. Daniel’s was top quartile for average contested possessions in 2023 despite not being a permanent mid which obviously have higher contested numbers. Ditch the stats, you just have to look at how he plays and you know Daniel’s is good inside.

The statement I was disagreeing with wasn't one along the lines he was "good", it was it he was an "contested ball freak" which is clearly absurd. I can't agree he is good inside however. He is good inside for an outside player, I think that is fair. He is far more effective in a contest than highly outside mids like Brad Hill or outside running backs like Hind, but that is not the same thing as being "good inside".

The family we could have kept together was the Hills by picking Bobby. Brad might have stayed if we had (maybe, clueless speculation). Bobby looked so good as an under-ager in the carnival. Hawthorn got in before we had a reasonable chance with Serong, similar with O’Driscoll.
He was traded to a Melbourne club for 'family reasons' and is a McDougall/Young client.
He'd have left by now too.
I heard Brad left for other reasons that would’ve still been there if we drafted Bobby. Not to mention he had planted the seeds for a trade request in 2018 while he was still working with Bobby
To be fair he did say neither WA club were interested
He asked the WA clubs, both turned him down
Brad was always going, massive deal and missus wanted to start a family at home
Picking Brad over Forster in 2011 would have been how we keep him
Especially as Neale walked out anyway (friends with Neale was the one saving grace in drafting Forster, not anymore tho)

he does look good. then again all those athletic basketballers got there asses handed to them by jokic. i swear the guy couldn't find a muscle tone even if it was staring him right in the face.
Thank **** we didn't hold on to Brad though. Wouldn't have Serong if we did.
