We're as fit as what we have ever been. As my mate used to say as the season drew nearer " Ah, it's going to be a big season."

AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
It is a great time to be alive as a fan isn't it? Norf supporters think a fully fit Cunners makes them a legit side and not a wooden spoon favourite, all the Hawks youngsters will be better than Chris Judd and the Bombers could be anything if Jakey Boy can start running again before March.
Is that the wooden spoon thread on the MB? It’s hard to say who is more in denial out of the North and Hawks supporters in that thread.Been watching a North fan and a Hawks fan arguing about how the team they support is looking good and on the up and the other team is trash, it's pretty funny.
On the topic of Smith's kicking - is there a stat out there somewhere which gives an indication of the number of and/or percentage of kicks taken on the opposite foot?
I would suggest he would be quite high on that list. Seems to use his left alot. Even when having time to get on his dominate side.
I recall during the 2021 Semi against Brisbane, I sent my mate a very colourful text pleading for Smith to stop using his left. He then produced the game winner to make me look silly.
Call me crazy. North are on the up , gonna be really good in the next 5 years can see a Melbourne like rise from them imo elite engine room in the makingIs that the wooden spoon thread on the MB? It’s hard to say who is more in denial out of the North and Hawks supporters in that thread.
I won't mind that. However it's a zero sum game. For every club that goes up some club (or clubs) have got to go down. If it's Geelong or Sydney or Richmond that is a good thing (that all clubs go through the cycle).Call me crazy. I’m not very confident in their ability to develop players. Improvement in the young players has been marginal the last 3 years imo.Call me crazy. North are on the up , gonna be really good in the next 5 years can see a Melbourne like rise from them imo elite engine room in the making
Won't be Geelong. Between their ridiculous home ground advantage, the world's most absurd "go home factor", their ability to give players blocks of land / houses down the coast with a Ford Ranger on them, and the AFL ticking off what may be the most lopsided trade in the history of the game, they're firmly in the top 8 if not top 4 for the foreseeable future.I won't mind that. Better not be us though.
I know … but it doesn’t stop me hoping.Won't be Geelong. They're quickly becoming the AFL's Manchester City / Chelsea.
Dirty ******* cheats.
This thread is off the rails
How is young Clarke going at training?
Wait, where does he get changed now that everybody uses mobile phones?
How is young Clarke going at training?
Tag Oliver Gigacz if there is a stat available he seems to be able to get it.
With players returning next week for training, we have about nine weeks before the season commences.
Effectively this will be broken into three blocks: a) Conditioning and 2023 DNA (Weeks 1- 4) b) Matches (Weeks 5 -7) c) Refining (Weeks 8-9)
We are expected to play one scratch match, one NAB game and either another final practice match with a rival club or full dress rehearsal intra match.
Tbh I think the media and general football commentators massively overrate Timmy due to his stats. We don’t rate anything else they say but when it comes to positives about Tim’s game we take it as gospel on here? I trust my own eye more than I trust people who obviously don’t even watch us play for the most part.If tap work was the be all and end all then Jordan Sweet would be our No1 Ruck and English would've been developed as a CHF.
When the discussion of English tap work gets brought up. It seems to get lost that in the eyes of many pundits he was on track for AA consideration prior to the concussion issues that he suffered mid season. Its also why many of the same pundits have him as the heir apparent to Nik Nat, Gawn and Grundy as the games premier ruckman in the coming seasons. I think that the then praying mantis like boy that he was suffered in the eyes of many due to being thrown to the wolves at the start of his career when he would get chewed up and spat out by every plodding journeyman that he came up against. Not to mention the times that he came up against the games aforementioned elite ruckman. If Brodie Grundy regularly dismantling him early in his career wasn't enough to break him nothing will.
The flexibility that an English/Lob combination forward and behind the ball brings, has now condemned Jordan Sweet to a Tom Campbell like existence in the game.
Sure, like wasting time on Bigfooty. It beats working for a living, but its not the most fulfilling way to spend ones salad days.
Check out Ed Richards’ Instagram - attended Alex Keath’s wedding in UK, along with Libba and Caleb. Libba’s outfit is… remarkable
I think they rate him about right relative to the other rucks in the comp. His skill level and positioning behind the ball is the best in the league. I think he just needs a concussion free run and will benefit a lot from Lobb giving him a chop-out instead of Bruce or Cordy.Tbh I think the media and general football commentators massively overrate Timmy due to his stats. He just wasn’t anywhere near as good this past year as has been made out in the media. I absolutely love his traits and he very well could and probably should be one of the best ruckmen the game has seen and his best is ridiculously good. But until he can do it consistently and not get beaten up in a huge way by any avg campaigner over 6ft5 when he’s not at his best, then he’s just not in the question for best ruckmen. Yet.
I’m pretty confident this may be his year, but it remains to be seen
For mine the video is a nice to have. The detailed written commentary is real gold. Can’t wait for the video coverage Inside The Kennel you have had a preseason equal to Big Timmy so far
Yeah nahHe's not my whipping boy, why the * would you say that?
He's a VERY good player, and could easily go to elite level but the two things holding him back from that are his defensive work at stoppage, and his shoddy disposal. He averaged 4.6 clangers and 6.7 turnovers from a ratio of 8.6 / 20.7 contested / uncontested possessions. You think that's anywhere near remotely good enough?
But just say yeah nah and some bullshit again.
