Alex Keith is almost unrecognisable, wow what a transformation!! Lean and fit….
Following Franklin to trim down in the latter years of careers.
Great move by the conditioning staff .

It looks to me like both Keath and Gardner have slimmed down a bit. I do think it's the right call...but gee, there's a lot riding on LJizz being up to the level as a full back.

Outside 5! Outside 5! Outside5! Ain’t going anywhere if today’s match simulation was anything to go by. It was the repeated by each of the line coaches officiating the game whenever a clean possession was made.

Am I the only one who can make sense of the tactic to stand 5m back from the mark?

This is not the reason we conceded 'easy' goals last year. We conceded easy goals because our defence was shit.

The tactic itself is fine. Our defence will be better this year than last year so 'outside 5' will work well for teams who implement this strategy. Hopefully we're the only ones doing it, although I can see that changing when teams catch on to how much success we're having with it, and how "trapped" teams become who didn't employ it to begin the season.

Teams who have a shit defence will be caught out no matter what. It's just the way it is with this stupid rule.

We have trained with both Inside and Outside five throughout the off-season. I suspect they will play a hybrid of both, depending on the position of the ground that we are defending, the state of the game and opponent. Seems wise, as long as it is executed as planned to suit the circumstance.

100% finally someone who speaks sense. Our defense was atrocious last season so it wouldn't have mattered where we were positioned on the mark we would have leaked goals.

I don't understand the reasons behind this strategy, so could you explain why we employ this for defence, then midfield and then forward line?

Why wasn’t our defence shit in 2021 then?

Caught a bit of intra club today. Cody and Caleb both played on ball and looked very good. L Jones will be a great recruit. Just times his run to defend very well. Lobb rolled his ankle and had it iced. Big Timmy will dominate this year. Was aggressive in his ruckwork and got his hand on quite a few. We looked sharp but I guess all teams do this time of the year.

I generally like your glass half full take on things. However you could say the same about last season. It’s not like we dogmatically followed that shambles of an idea then either. Personally I was horrified at how much I heard it today. I was hoping that like putting combustible gas into airships it would be consigned to history as something that was good idea at the time.

Oh well at least I’ll still have this drum to bang all season. So it’s not all bad.

Keath had the best year of his life and our mids applied much more defense pressure.
Exactly and he was horrible last year, Throw Dureya in the mix who we hardly had in 2022 and also williams had a belter of a year playing on the 3rd tall until the GF.
