For me it's similar to what Steve Johnson used to do for Geelong if they or he needed a shake up or a bit of "X-Factor" throw him in for a couple of CBAs to change things up and get involved but still have his predominate role up forwardI like specialist forwards staying forward in this day and age, and Cody is as good as it gets up forward. But more than happy for him to have a few runs through there from time to time to change things up for us and him if he’s struggling to get in the game etc as we know forward pocket can be a lonely position at times and you can’t star there all the time.
But I hope he keeps his focus on becoming the best small forward in the league and kicking bulk goals rather than any any meaningful shift to midfield in coming years
With Baz and Treloar probably getting more inside midfield minutes this year, I can see Weightman filling that high half forward/extra mid at stoppages role for periods.I like specialist forwards staying forward in this day and age, and Cody is as good as it gets up forward. Treloar needs to just get on the paddock first. I don't think he's ready in time for Round 1.With Baz and Treloar probably getting more inside midfield minutes this year, I can see Weightman filling that high half forward/extra mid at stoppages role for periods.
That seems a more logical evolution of his role than any significant minutes as a hardcore inside mid.
Genuine game winner too. One of the best individual games I've ever seen from a player was Papley vs the Eagles in 2019.With Weightman playing midfield, it reminded me that one of the best small forwards in the comp spends plenty of time in the midfield in Tom Papley.
Unacceptable is not an exaggeration. And I didn't say you did, did I?Unacceptable is also an exaggeration and I have not been throwing Spangler or the forwarms under a bus
It is. It's very much an issue when scores from turnover was huge against us last year.Yeah but it’s not the issue he makes it out to be
It's not an obvious answer because Dunkley is doing his thing at the coalface where it is notoriously harder to be efficient with the pill.Dunkleys never broke lines like Smith would be the obvious answer
happy to keep my head where it is as it’s more level than yours
Wut?Did Lachie Hunter get confused who he plays for now ?
Despite kicking incredibly straight against us in the game we played late season, he has been a pretty poor set shot to my eyes during his career. Especially from close range.
I don’t think we will need to train him there!
From memory he kicked about 5 straight from what seemed to all be >50 in that match against us last year at Marvel, so I'd expect his long distance record to be much improved from that game alone.I haven't got the numbers for 2022 but here is Rory Lobb's accuracy for distance (numbers in brackets are shots that didn't score)...

Friendly reminder that we will likely be starting season 2023 with Rory Lobb, Sam Darcy and a post pre-season Josh Bruce vying for KPF3 and backup ruck, a role filled by Zaine Cordy for the first half of 2022.

Excluding other results in 2022, it's remarkable that he went 120 odd games with just 21 shots on goal outside 50 then had 6 in a single game against us.5/6 shots from outside 50 that day...

I know Bevo preaches versatility but I’d rather Cody just works on his small forward craft. With Weightman playing midfield, it reminded me that one of the best small forwards in the comp spends plenty of time in the midfield in Tom Papley.

27 disposals, 7 marks, 16 score involvements, 5 goals, 2 assists. Just utterly dominated, it was incredible. If Weightman could even get close to Papley's level as a player, we'd be laughing
