Being an optimistic dog, I Just had a look at the flag and Brownlow odds 224/1 for the dogs and Bont pretty appealing and why not the treble with Astro for the Coleman that is paying 7,616/1.
Darcy is also $9 for the rising star. That'd be a $685,440 collect for a lazy $10 multi and seems pretty much a lock.

I find it quite disturbing that they allow betting on a competition that is decided by the end-of-year votes of a very small number of people. It's so open to corruption - and there has already been the whiff of that in the past.

How did that investigation into David King betting on the sudden, come from the clouds, barely heard from since, 2014 winner end up?

Like most of them.
Hence the graphic above.

It's pretty crazy what they put up markets on. At the Superbowl you could bet on what colour Rihanna's outfit would be during the half time entertainment. She would've had a nice collect on that one.

Chucked 5 bucks on;
Dogs to make the 8
Geelong to make the 8
Brisbane to make the 8
Richmond to make the 8
Bont Brownlow
Naughts Coleman

Payout when I win = $7519.69

So looking forward to that and we get our third cup a few weeks later.

They used to allow bets on the first side to win a throw in in the Premier League , so players would boot the ball over the line at kick off & a family member would get a nice collect .

I’m shocked to learn the gambling industry is linked to corruption. One of the governments that receives millions of dollars from them should do something about it.

Has any team actually won every award in a season though? Seems unlikely with afl being rife with integrity issues
Not sure if this is what you're asking but the Premiership/Brownlow/Coleman treble has been done twice, both by the Collingwood "Machine" during their four-peat in 1927 and 1929. There's been a handful of other times where a team has claimed both the Coleman and Brownlow medal winners (2022, 2012, 1987 etc).

And rising star?

And when there were only 12 teams (with only about 8 of them being seriously competitive).

That's quite a bit different to having 18 teams and equalisation strategies like salary cap, draft etc.

How is there only 10kgs between English and Darcy physically!

Also I’ve taken shits bigger than the difference between Naughty and Marra, one’s a twig and the other is an absolute unit.

I never understand these 😂

My biggest wish is that we have found a way to stop quality opposition pouring on an avalanche of goals in a very short time. Has been a problem since 2021 (notably the grand final but also multiple times last season). If the team wants to compete for a flag it has to be fixed imo.

We went from the #1 ranked team in 2021 at stopping teams from transitioning from our F50 to D50 to the 17th ranked team in 2022. Only Norf ranked worse than us last year.

Our stoppage/clearance work was actually pretty good in 2022.

The big reason for this decline was our ball movement and our lack of ability to half a contest in our forward line. Too often we would have shallow entries into our F50 allowing teams to easily transition out our forward line.

Our best block of football under Bevo (including our premiership year) was the first 6 weeks of 2021 season. That was when we had a 3prong attack of Naughton, Bruce & English with Stef Martin assuming #1 ruck duties. This meant teams found it difficult to intercept our F50 entries and our smalls knew where to run towards to apply pressure and crumb on any loose balls. Last year it was predominantly a banged up Naughton and a young, inexperienced Marra. Our forward line looked disfunctional which clearly made it difficult for our midfielders/halfbacks to kick inside 50 with a cohesive strategy. This is why we found it difficult to defend the ground and a key reason why Bevo got Lobb.

It's a good graph, but we went scrappy last year getting repeat 'dirty' entries and given the transitional nature of AFL turnovers, that led to cleaner opposition F50 entries. Our defenders often had little hope, having to repeatedly defend while starting out of position.

The graph is for the 2021 season as stated.

Also, getting repeat entries regardless of clean or dirty is a net positive. It means that your not allowing easy transition from our end of the ground to the other.
