Just not convinced with Treacy.

Voss is a better all round fwd. We all know it. Wasn’t just his set shot and leading..it’s the fact he showed great pace and seemed to be a one touch player with no fumbling. Liked the run n carry + the centering balls on the angle. If Jackson is the resting ruck fwd and Amiss is traditional FF, Treacy needs to be more one touch and less fumbling imo. His aerobic capacity for a big guy is overrated. In fairness JT has done enough for rd 1..just not convinced he’ll be in mid year.

If it’s Emmett vs Sturt..gotta go Emmett atm. One has tenacity, the other polish. As long as Amiss, Walters, Jackson etc are splitting the middle sticks we go with Emmett.

Not sure if you’re serious, but Treacy was stood by Barrass mostly, occasionally Jameson, and Voss got to play on a nobody.

Lots of positives to take out of this, without getting carried away. WCE are in a world of pain.
Emmett is an AFL player.
Ras is looked like he belonged. I think he’s ready to step up this season.
JOM is a class player. We need that and he’s now in my R1 23.
Walker looked good.
Great to see Noddy get some some confidence. He’s on track to get back to 2022 form.
McDonald is a great pick up and will be great coverage for Cox/Pearce
Walls has found a few players again. Simpson and Stanley are going be afl players.
Agree with this , And also add how much better our Midfield looked with Fyfe playing the distributer role he did in the first half.
Cooper is going to make it so pleased with this pick up .
Selection for round one will be tough .
With the only obvious decision being No Taberner.

There must be an AI programme that gauges how biased commentators are when commentating live. Watching the game live, readings and co are so monotone when talking freo, heck even Jackson's goal was ho hum compared to anything eagle.
Such a joke, but quite enjoyable.

Not taking too much out of this but if WC don’t have close to their best 22
on the field. They are stuffed.
Massive gap between the kids and the seniors, and our depth is chalk and cheese.
The first half was a better read of where both clubs are, the second half we had
fresh legs and they didn’t and we put them to the sword.
Just the quality and quantity of our picks compared to their drafting?
I still don’t understand how Simpo is still there?
Reckon the AFL is going to have to bail them out with priority picks, etc.
Doesn’t get any easier in the next game and it’s going to be Curtin’s for the
West.

I can't think of any commentator that is unbiased towards Freos opponent except maybe Adam Papalia

Simpson is still there specifically because the AFL rule put in place to protect the clubs that the AFL owns from contracting a coach long term doesn't apply to WC so if the Eagles wanted to fire him they have to pay out his whole remaining deal - the others (not us or SA) get to pay out six months and show them the door.

Where was sharp? He was named in the squad I watched all 6 periods. albeit I was looking after our 6 month old which took my attention away abit but didn’t notice him any where?

I’d pay him out, supposedly the richest and largest club in the AFL.

Thoughts on McDonald?

I'm going to watch the replay again but from memory, was solid and played to his strengths

Was decent
Good contributor

Bit rusty at first but his height was valuable in defence

Seemed to work his way up the wings a fair bit too
Will be good depth for Cox

They are still subject to the same rules regarding football department spending soft caps and taxes as the other teams though. And they like keeping their money.

And ultimately they want the new coach to come in and find near immediate success so given they are still leaning heavily on senior players, another year of development before a new coach comes in isn't a terrible idea.

The negativity from another poor season will leave with the coach.

Apparently something maybe going on with Ryan after the game? Some sort of injury? Anyone notice anything?

I think we saw 2 different styles of footy.

JL was patient and worked the ball through the mids.

Simo went fast through the half back line and into a front half.
