Yeah I think we need to give Answerth a few games to settle before we can really tell if his decision making has improved or not.
Coaching group love what he has brought the team so far this pre-season..and why not? He has been great!!!

With regards to his disposal (clangers) he has a few mates who in my opinion need to improve far more than Noah does.

I've missed Answerth. Great to see him back on the park, love how he plays. Just another player that adds a little bit more speed to our side as well. He isn't a speed demon, but i think overall we've had a fairly slow running team for the best part of the last decade. Mitch Robbo stands out in our team, and he isn't lightning quick. The likes of Kiddy, Answerth, Dev, Madden, Cockatoo, Ah Chee... These players coming into our side has just given us a little more toe. The ability to get an overlap here or there and cut off the opposition. It's the small things that can add up and make you a 1 goal swing better side. Kick 1 more goal, and save 1 more goal and your 12 points better off. That is the difference in finals.

So I finally watched the game. Took me a while because I just could not stomach the biased commentary. They just crapped on and on about how good the dogs are. Every now and then we get a bit of a little shout out to a particular player; Zac Bailey and Charlie Cameron… but largely it was all about the bulldogs. Not just about individual players but how the dogs are doing this and that to control the game or the tempo. Talking about Luke Bevridge and his decision making.

Anyway, I thought we looked really good, really fit. Cockie wow what a difference! I was lukewarm on him last season and was hopeful of him getting back to his best but gee whiz he is looking good. Still will take him a few games to really get into it but think he is a huge boost to our flag hopes. Answerth looking good considering his long absence. I thought madden looked better as the game went on… until the ankle injury.
Always loved kiddy and expect him to have a bit of breakout season.
Way too many others to mention, McStay, Neale, Bailey etc all looking great guns! I think on a whole we look so much fitter than last year and a lot of beefy boys running around out there as well!

I love seeing Bam Bam do this but I also laugh at how the opposition consistently let him roam in these particular circumstances. It would be an opposition coach's nightmare watching him left on his own from 50 metres or more out from goal.
Opposition coach's instructions: whatever you do, don't leave Rich alone in the Lions forward half. No one anywhere near him and he kicks a goal from outside 50. Coach wonders if his players are listening!

Hopefully this won't be COVID's lasting legacy - commentators sitting in a Melbourne studio thinking that the game is only about the Victorian teams.

Yeah I know, because this never happened before COVID.

Ok, they were one sided but at least we're at the ground. When they travelled out if Victoria, they had someone local in the box and they could sense the mood.

The one thing I always loved about Answerth was his endeavour. The one thing I didn't like was his disposal which to me was generally below par.

But he's still very young and copped more than his fair share of misfortune on his footy journey and it was just great to see him out there again fit and well.

He had a couple of clunkers disposal wise but overall I thought was better. It's a part of his game that can be fixed . I like him on the wing because he keeps willing himself to run and contest. With Kiddy and Madden out it's likely Ah Chee will slot into the back half. Once again he did a lot that goes unnoticed and like Noah never gives up. So right there we have two versatile players who can be relied upon to do a job wherever there is a need.

I have only watched the second quarter and all the commentators acknowledged that we were smashing the doggies so I dont think its as bad as being painted

That was the quarter we smashed them, so they were obliged to talk about us.

I've learned to embrace this, as hard as it is. The less the media say about our club the better. There's so much to be said for flying under the radar. If clubs read the footy press (and they do, even if they don't admit to it) this will be affecting their perceptions of us, even if subconsciously.

We're going to stay underrated until we stand up in finals. Which is as it should be.

As long as the doubts others have about us don't get into our own mindset we'll be fine.

Answerth can do a couple of clangers, although I never thought he was as bad as others here make him out to be.
We have a few guys in our team that can pick out players in other jumpers a bit too often..
Although always seems Answerth get singled out. A lot of our backline can as well.. Andrews done it many times, Adams, Dizzy..
Even mids Berry, Robbo not always a sure bet.
Even Rich can once or twice a game :)
I like his speed and and determination.. Starc also went past him as he was injured. Happy to play both of them.

With Fullerton I love him to start clunking some marks, he gets his hands there although does not bring it down.

Hope Kiddy, Dev and Madden have a quick recovery.
