Burton, the North Adelaide idiot. For coming out and talking s**t, and then proving how weak he is within the first 5 minutes. Inexcusable.

That dropped sitter and then slip was exactly what he deserved. All year he’s sounded like an arrogant twat in his radio interviews, unprepared to acknowledge that his form wasn’t anywhere near as good as it should be or that there was merit in his omissions. Then he serves that up. It was him against Dawson for a number of those uncontested pack marks that Dawson took across half forward. He’s playing like such a North Adelaide pretty boy at the moment.

Actually, Bonner on the wing may offer something. I was thinking watching yesterday that our fast transition up the wings has disappeared and that Amon would have been useful. How glib we were in saying we had his position covered. We should, but we don't.

I think there was a working assumption that Duursma would be on one wing and Bergman on the other but it hasn't really worked out that way. Duursma just keeps getting long term injuries so never gets a good run at it whilst Bergman has been used mainly down back.

This also feeds into the discussion about Boak and Wines and our surplus of midfielders which ends up with good players becoming ineffective players in positions they shouldn't be playing.

Our team feels very unbalanced with so many centre square midfielders, so many mid sized half back flankers and not much of anything else.

Great observations. We need Bergman back, as ordinary as his form has been for 6 weeks, because Burton is worse.

Boak and Wines are not working anywhere they’re played. You could point to the fact that they are getting 15-20 touches per game which is more than a rookie might get, but they are both consistently displaying poor decision-making, general sluggishness, erratic disposal execution and lack of fight in contests.

What I would like to see from here on is Burgoyne to play the other wing, and Jackson to be trialled in the midfield in place of Boak and Wines. Let those two have a week’s rest and then two weeks of a mini-preseason before the final round which they can play at SANFL level.

Another issue is how bad Duursma’s disposal has been. Duursma on the outside has almost single handily destroyed our efficient kicking that we had been getting on the outside when our inside brigade get quick handballs out.

He’s quick and fit but **** me his ball use has been atrocious. Same with Horne Francis except for the few spectacular plays he does and Bergman too.

We need a 1 on 1 defender, better forward structure, better disposal from the wingers and Wines/Boak/Dixon all gone.

A lot to fix up.

Wines won’t be dropped so probably just have to accept the above without Jackson for Wines.

Would also consider dropping Burton, Duursma, Finlayson, Marshall if we actually had anyone to come in for them.

Not sure what we do with Bonner, Burgoyne, Narkle because most of the guys we are losing or need to drop are key position / bigger bodied players. We have no like for like for those though other than Jonas who is cooked and should retire.

Our best players in the ressies are all skinny, outside players. If we brought them in for our struggling bigger bodied players we’ll get destroyed in 1 on 1’s and contests.

Bad problem to have at the moment and it’s the same problem we’ve had for years. No tall or big bodied depth and just 100 flankers or skinny guys on the list.

Dixon out being rested. We need to get him fit, he is too important to be playing on one leg. Tell Marshall and Finlayson, if Dixon was fit one of them wouldn't be playinig (and if MG was fit neither of them would be) pull their fingers out if they want to play finals.

Burton one who needs to massively lift. On very thin ice at the moment, not that long ago he was one of our best players.

Boak lucky to get picked as sub, but after the SANFL performance there aren't many deserving on an AFL call up. Hugh Jackson needs to keep developing, Burgoyne needs to massively bulk up to impact AFL footy, Sinn not good enough (looking like a bust), Mead not good enough.
