cause Souths beat them at Rock, Paper, Scissors
MMM I wonder.
Just look at the facilities the players have at Success, Cockburn, compared to what they would have had at Fremantle oval.
If people are still looking for facilities like the WAFL clubs have, then they will be wating for a long time..
The days of clubs having actual club hoses where you can but a beer, have a meal etc are things of the past. After game functions are from by gone days,
Just a quesation, have you been down to see the facitlies that Freo have now?

In terms of funding for the current Fremantle Oval redevelopment plans, there is agreement from all stakeholders on the project now (City of Fremantle, FFC, SFFC and WAFC).

A number of the elements of the master plan, including the housing element and space for a child care (Fremantle is on a Federal list for having insufficient child care places) have been included as these two elements alone, combined with female sport participation, are three key boxes to tick to secure the federal funding, and potentially further funding from the state.

Fremantle FC have visited parliament in Canberra on numerous occasions to pitch for funding, as have the City of Fremantle - including as recently as a couple of months ago.

Expect there to be considerable funding from government for the project - and further from sales of the housing component that will be used to fund more of the works too.

Fed MP Josh Wilson will also face some strong competition from Greens and Independents to retain the seat - funding to this will be a nice sweetener too.

Great post.

Finally someone on here who understands what's going on and who we need to lobby.

no but was at Souths having beers a few weeks back. The lads from Bennys were doing a marvellous job on the bar.

done deal !
WA Gov, City of Freo, FFC, SFFC all lined up.
Community consultation?
Dont be boring!

As I said earlier in this thread, the project would probably be run by DevWA - I can imagine that that would be part of the deal with the State. Additionally, it would almost certainly be subject to the Metro Joint Development Assessment Panel, which means that (like Claremont), they can (and will) consult the public as the project progresses and attempt to address any "valid" concerns but the panel of experts (plus the two councillors) would make the final decision on any component as the project progresses and bypass council debate. Of course, the experts will generally stick to their lane of precedents and policy, and so far nothing that has been raised is out of line with state government policy and/or lacks a precedence; in fact it wouldn't surprise me for them to get into the project and raise both the overall height level and the amount of community housing, much to some people's ire.

Community groups typically try to fight these things on the basis of traffic and parking and maybe noise; one of the double advantages of it being community housing project is that the experts will argue that people that community housing typically has lower usage of cars and car ownership (due to being less affluent and the City being highly accessible), so when they do the modelling they will say that it is reasonable to provide less parking (as well as having decoupled parking from the units themselves, like they have in the East Perth / Claisebrook components) and hence the flow on impact is that there would be less car traffic impact on local roads.

Anyway - this really has very little to do with AFL (maybe a little to do with AFLW) and more to do with housing supply.

Expect Federal funding to come through in the election process - huge amounts of groundwork have already been undertaken which is why the housing is included. Housing will get the (majority of)!funding, then pushed to a developer and those funds used as the council contribution to the project.

Expect one of the new childcare centres promised to be included too.

I'm sure they are more pedantic than most. Just wanted to highlight Ive been happy to see quite a bit of development recently compared to the 10-20 years before it.

A marquis redevelopment of freo oval would be awesome, maybe they can knock off some of the hospital and that rear access road to get it to happen.
So long as it isn't the Marquis de Sade designing the marquee development, but I'm sure he could whip somethingup. :)

12500 seat stadium so far ahead of anything there now

Hopefully the housing doesn't take up prime spectator space like it does at Claremont oval. It really shouldn't given there is a lot of space around the ground for it.
12.5k stadium gotta be better.
What will happen the heritage stand?
Will the ground be moved towards it?

Leederville and East Fremantle were the only football grounds that didn’t have cricket pitches.
I may be wrong, but didn't Fremantle cricket club move to Stevens reserve after removing the pitch from Fremantle oval.
My first ever game of watching A Derby at Fremantle was a wet boggy day.Todd and Sorrell both played centre.
Just checked and the pitch and cycle track were removed in 1960.
