Yeh Zuthrie has to play for me. Probably been our best mid sized defender in 2nd half of year.

Below is based on being unsure if Stanley can play..

Cameron for Esava
Duncan for O' connor
Miers medi Sub

Unsure what to do with Menegola, in best 22 no doubt but has had no contunuity alllll year?

Bews to Elliott
Zuthrie to Ginnivan
They tried Zuthrie first up 2 weeks ago (I reckon with a view to a Ginnivan match up) on Suns Izak Rankin when playing forward in the first quarter he got flogged.

So no Atkins?

They say KP is a cheat ground. They’re a MCG tenant with a home final they didn’t earn.

That’s my definition of cheat ground
I think we all need to move on pretty quickly and make sure we take the high ground on the venue and where Collingwood finished. Futile argument as the game was always going to be at the G. Close it down, don't buy into any mindless barbs from Pies supporters.

The scenario is very simple for Geelong and it's all we really need to focus on ------ win three games at the G and we're deserved premiers.

Outside of that who really cares. If Chris Scott had his time over again I doubt he would've commented on the venue Vs Richmond a few years ago. games like this will never be at GMHBA. Nor should they. If the ground was completed and we'd have played Fremantle week one then perhaps we'd be a chance, but we didn't, so just get on with it.

If we can't beat Collingwood at the G we don't deserve to be there.

Oh, we’ll beat Collingwood at the G and I’m not convinced it’ll even be a challenge infront of a 70/30 split crowd. I’m flying over from SA meeting an old mate from NT who goes for the Pies. It’s more disappointing cause I think we’d win by 100 at KP.

Zac Guthrie has had a much better year than Bews, and looks a good fit for Elliott.

Tough call as Bews has actually been ok in finals relative to his team mates.

I think they will go with Bews and Zuth will be sub.
I’d go with both v Collingwood. Only concern in ZGuthire being dragged back to the very last line by Elliot. I feel he plays better at half back as he reads it so well, is agile and isn't exposed for pure straight line speed. He also played well last year in the finals and has less baggage.

Kolo is in the gun. Had a terrific year but he he been absolutely horrific in finals. By foot, marking high balls and on the loose ground balls. Up there with Henderson. Coll are also very small up there. Alex Johnson is probably his match up. Henry has been taking the second banana all year eg Curnow

They probably have to make a call in the midfield group. Atkins might be very very unlucky.

Cameron for Esava
Duncan for MOC
Stanley for Ceglar

Sub Atkins/Menegola. Just prey CGuthrie is ok. If ZGuthrie is dropped then I still think we go a mid as a sub. Touhy can always go back. Personally I worry about Duncan back. He can’t defend, and in finals heat he’s been a ordinary in that role. Ie last years Port final. Wing rolling back is his best role now but Holmes ain’t being shifted from there. He’s taken Menegola and Duncan’s best spot and literally run with it.

SDK to Cox/D Cameron
Henry to Miochek
Bews to Ginnivan
ZGuthie to Elliot
Stewart to WHE
Kolo to A Johnosn
Duncan to McCreedy

You cannot be serious?
Atkins absolutely plays, in any iteration of the team

We were down by 30 points with a quarter to last time we met. We stormed home to win by 13 points and I can assure you that will be etched in the minds of Collingwood players, coaches and supporters. The mind games have already began!
Geelong won't be drawn into mind games.

That’s what I’ve been worried about.

Need to put them away early on the scoreboard and not leave the door ajar.
Because if it gets close at the death, they will find away like they have all year.

Yep...put them away by 3/4 time.
Our forward line can do it we must convert.

I think Rohan gets the first final (on notice)
Menegola next in if someone doesn't get up.
I'm taking tall insurance in Ceglar as medi sub we can shuffle the deck chair if we lose a small/medium player.

Id pick menegola but it will be interesting to see what we do as he probably doesnt get back in unless kolo is out or we drop rohan.

Im not sure on the sub id rather a flexible runner like gola or moc i feel a tall ruck as sub is very risky.

Thank you :) Ticketmaster to get my barcode I mean :p

Oh bugger so I can't buy a ticket for a non-member tomorrow?

Yikes - does anybody have two barcodes spare or is there a thread for this somewhere?

We'd be stupid to drop Zuthrie

Who else are you dropping instead. With at least 4 ins (assuming all are fit)he is likely dropped even though he has been good. Need to be ruthless at this time of year.

I agree too on both counts (bews in zuth sub).

Plenty blokes have had a terrific year and plenty have had shockers in finals.
Kolo isn't on his PatMalone of being in the so called GUN.
So just disregard kolo's offensive ability... Because. He is there for his defensive capabilities.
He gives us options in the back 6 where he can play on Elliot/Ginnivan/Johnson as he has height and pace to nullify all these 3 blokes.
Fingers crossed he is good 2 go.

Always ignore this cr@p. Want the flag? You need to win at the MCG, it's that simple. The league gave us a crappy "home ground" final one time and what did we do, lose to a bunch of losers. We'll take "home state" and get some additional MCG practice.

Will the crowd sound like a Collingwood home game, most likely, but that's also the fault of every Geelong supporter who doesn't give it their all.
I don't live in the past, and this squad and coach need to get it done next month if we're to remain a "great, modern destination club", but there is proof that the rabble can be silenced, and here it is:

Pass it round Cats supporters, we need this again!! All I ask is that the boys turn up, they turn up and they can beat any of the other 7 contenders. Rock up thinking we're better, and that arrogance will smack us in the face quick smart as it has over the past decade. GO CATS!

Can wait til 3pm for general public or grab a spare barcode and buy at 10

The only way we don't win this will be poor set shot kicking for goal.
This.

More than likely we will win contested possession, Collingwood tend to lose that anyway. So we need to put whatever dominance we have, whenever we have it, on the score board. Particularly early. Collingwood's game against Melbourne was a case in point.

We don't want to get caught in a 'rabbit in the headlights' situation in the last Q, where we lose our nerve in the face of a hostile crowd, Collingwood's deserved confidence, and our own final's demons. I'm not necessarily saying we would go to water in that scenario, but for my own personal well being, I'd prefer not to test it out, given what we've all watched in the last 10 years.

I'd be very surprised if we went tall for the sub, especially against Collingwood. Even if Stanley went down early I think we've got the height to match them

How good was that chant after the premature collingwood chant went up in the second.
Suffer you ferals

Don’t let them kick more than 2 goals in a row. IMPERATIVE!!! They are winning games by riding a wave of confidence and crowd hysteria leading to a seemingly unstoppable tidal-wave of goals. We saw that the last time we met in the 3rd Q. Had it been the 4th we’d have lost easily.

No doubt there's going to be plenty of discussion in the lead up to this but I think our best 22 and the best match ups Vs Collingwood is pretty straight forward. At this stage I've assumed that the players under injury clouds are not in any danger of missing, and have just been managed very conservatively.

Question marks for me (and it might come down to balance / match ups)

-- O'Connor (Can play a lock down role and also mid / back ---- clearly been best 22 in selectors eyes all year)
-- Zuthrie (Been very good in 2nd half of the year, but we might have 1 or 2 too many defenders?)
-- Menegola (The fact he was managed last game suggests the coaches think he's best 22 - his run late on the G might be a factor)
-- Parfitt (Probably locked himself in with his game on the weekend - the coach loves his inside grunt)
-- Miers (Like Parfitt may have locked himself in on the weekend - think he had 11 score involvements?)

B: Bews / De Koning / Henry
HB: Kolo / Stewart / Duncan

C: Smith / Blicavs / Selwood

HF: Close / Cameron / Rohan
F: Stengle / Hawkins / Miers

Foll: Stanley / Dangerfield / C Guthrie

Int: Parfitt / Atkins / Holmes / Tuohy

Med Sub: Zuthrie

Emg: Menegola / Ceglar / O'Connor / Esava
