RALPH Carr has resigned as a director of the Carlton Football Club. Carr confirmed the tough decision was made due to the ever-increasing demands of his successful management company, Ralph Carr Management.

“My business demands continue to grow and I am finding there is not enough hours in my day to be able to devote the necessary time to the Board and the Club,” Carr said.

Carr was appointed to the Board in December 2006 and elected by the by the members in February 2007.

“It has been an honour to serve the Carlton Football Club as a director and I sincerely thank the Carlton members for giving me the opportunity and for being so supportive over the last two years’” added Carr.

While stepping down from the board, Carr has confirmed he will continue to provide assistance to the Club where he can. A life-time supporter of the Blues he said he will always remain a strong supporter and is looking forward to continuing as a sponsor and supporter of the Club.

“Being on the Board has been a wonderful experience and I appreciate the opportunity I have been given to work with fellow directors at Carlton. In particular Richard Pratt and Stephen Kernahan, who have been the President’s since I was elected in February last year.

“I am fortunate to have been involved with the Club that I love and proud to have been working with the team that has been a driving force in the resurgence of the Carlton Football Club.”

From his website:

Sports Management
Ralph Carr Management has launched a new sports division.
Encompassing sports management and sports promotion, RCM SPORTS will deliver the same high quality and innovative standard of service, that our entertainment clients have benefited from for over a decade.

Could be foreseeing a major conflict of interest in the coming years???

It could be like Ricky Nixon being on the St. Kilda board............

Ralph won't be replaced. A few more board members need to be cut as it is.

I think you have that right. Richard Pratt stated from the get-go that he wasn't comfortable with the size of the board. The board was expanded to keep the factions happy & over time we will see the board reduced in size by natural attrition, until the numbers are at a more feasible level.

Whispers around that this board may be reduced in size at some stage as well. Stay posted.

Thank God for that - not replacing him will even improve the efficiency of the place. Last remnants of previous bad management starting to finally get sorted....has got a crackin' missus though!!!!

Carr wasn't on the Smorgan board. He was elected during the vote that kicked Smorgan out.
