Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

Less of a random question, more of a statement...

Is it just me or is the same person (David - ALL STARS) currently leading both DT and Supercoach? Pretty fair effort is that's the case!

He'll probably lose any partner he may have had with all the work he would now be putting into it!

Wow, looking at both teams it would have to be (has pretty unique players in both teams like Strijk, McNamara and Jaensch!!) Thats an unbelievable effort!! :thumbsu::eek:

Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

Considering J. Brown > Podsiadly

I have 6 trades left

I have bench cover, but is it likely that Brown will be back at all if Brisbanes season is shot in a months time?

Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

Just came out that Brown will be back rd 16. Two weeks away.

Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

How many trades is recommended to keep for LTI and league finals?

Got 1 more downgrade (trengove or webberley >> strijk) and 1 more upgrade (martin >> dal santo/hayes) to do with six trades left or upgrade martin later in the year just incase there are a lot of injuries.

Is only having 4 trades left too much risk?

Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

Is 6 cats to many in a team as well as 3 in the forward line.

No, if you had Chapman, SJ and JPod from the start you would be going well. Geelong as a team usually churn out high DT numbers, so makes sense to have decent amount of players from those kinds of teams.

Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

Does anyone know why the MN at the start of the year is different for each player?
No one has really had a go at this one, and I am far from certain but...

It has something to do with the total player pool of points. I am pretty sure, that they get the whole number of points scored, and divide by the total of all the players prices, to get the magic number. Ie MN = Total points scored by all the players divided by the total prices of all of the prices of all the players.

As rookies start rocketing up in price, then the magic number falls (since MN = Total player points / total player prices, the denominator will increase (with the rookies as they adjust to their appropriate level) and thus the MN will fall).

Not 100% sure, but I think this is on the right track and will give you some indication of the theory behind it all.

Whoever thought DT could be so complex!

Re: Random questions thread (part 3)

I scored 2330 last round and moved into the top 2000 (ranked 1800th)

However my team value is 9.4 million and looking at the other teams they are all 9.8+, most being over 10 million. Having a quick look I have the lowest in the top 3000.

What are people's thoughts on team value? Is it really that important, I'm pretty pleased with my team if people think it is a good reflection on performance.

Look at the teams in 2nd and 8th place.

Wtf, surely they have cheated somehow?

You can still enter teams at this point in the season, presumably so more people can jump on so that the AFL and VS make $$$. If you wanted to start a new team now for instance, it's easy to make a squad guaranteed to pump out 2200+ for the next round.

The thing with the person who is 8th in the weekly ranking is that he has most of the best (and most expensive) scorers in his team, with bench options of Judd, Gibbs, Russell NLM, Cox, Ballantyne Franklin all around 300 - 400k. I am certain this couldnt have been done without cheating.

How could you possibly cheat in DT?

Quite obvious that that guy is cheating through hacking or something of the like. He hasnt played all year, and a team like that would surely be in the top few hundred overall. I think you will fine it would of basically been impossible for him to come up with that team, and if he had of he would of been ranked much much higher than he currently is.

Just look at it - pretty sure that he basically has the top 6-7 players from each position, in every position.

Conzy's champions has a team value around $1m more than the leaders. Not possible without hacking. VS need to do something to identify these teams before publication of results and eliminate them then so the integrity of DT isn't compromised. Coaches will not bother if it becomes common for this to occur.

I've been thinking and maybe they selected 29 cash cows at the start of the year and left 1 spot vacant so his team wouldn't score. Then in the last few rounds his decided to cash in and trade all of them out (and he'd still have unlimited trades) BUT maybe when he is traded them out they are being traded out at their current price SO say he picked Maguire up for example and his price rose by 180Kish. He "trades" him out (He stll has umlimited trades because he hasn't selected his sqaud of 30). But instead of trading him out at 100K he is being traded out at 280K and he pockets 180K

So maybe he didn't technically hack it and it could be veiwed as just a dirty but smart tactic.....but IMO he is still cheating. It's just not in the spirit of the game

Hmmm.... sounds feasible. But surely if he was up for a weekly prize , and thats all he could be trying to win, then VS would check his team before awarding the prize? Nevertheless your hypothesis seems sound.

This loophole has been known about for the last couple of years and that is how you go about achieving such a high scoring team.
